Biography

Early Life

Boman Irani was born into a Parsee family who was into bakery business .Irani completed his schooling from St. Mary’s School, Mumbai after which he pursued graduation from Mithibal College. The young Boman never dreamt cinema even as a child as he had to support his parents by working as a waiter in a hotel after which he took over the bakery run by his family. But after some years Irani developed passion for Photography and became a professional photographer in 1987 which he ended in 1989 to enter theatre activities as per the suggestion of famous choreographer Shiamak Davar after seeing one his performance to entertain Davar while between a movie shooting; Irani firstly refused the offer stating that he was stage shy but after constant pressure he subdued after which he got selected by his to be mentor Alyque Padamsee for acclaimed play Roshni which made Irani a theatre artist . Irani also played Mahatma Gandhi in Firoz Abbas Khan’s drama Mahatma vs Gandhi and I am not Bajirao is his most famous play ever.

Personal Life

Boman Irani follows Zoroastrianism as his religion. Boman Irani is married to Zenobia Irani; the couple has two boys Danesh Irani and Kayoze Irani.

Career

<p><b>Initial cinema entry ( 2003)</b></p><p>Darna Mana Hai was his very first outing in commercial cinema; the anthology horror thriller saw Boman Irani sharing screen with Saif Ali Khan in the second segment film of the series ‘No Smoking’ where he portrayed a psychic manager of a roadside inn, the character played by Irani was well noted and also No Smoking went on to be declared the best segment in the movie. Irani came back shortly with a significant role in Rajkumar Hirani’s Comedy drama Munna Bhai M.B.B.S, the movie starring Sanjay Dutt had him playing the role of Dr. Asthana which turned out to be huge turnaround for Boman Irani as his popularity rocketed instantly with him being nominated for the category of Best Comedian in The Filmfare Awards that year in 2003. </p><p>After which many comical roles came Irani’s way in the subsequent years; the character of the easy going principal in Mai Hoon Na was the first among the series of next films in Irani’s career which was followed by Farhan Aktar’s Laks
