Veteran Actor Anupam Kher says , 'We need to revisit the Central Board of Film Certification Rulebook'

Veteran Actor Anupam Kher said that the Censor Board has to revisit its rule book and it has been chalked out more than six decades ago and need to be looked into again.

Pahlaj Nihalani's who leads the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has been in the limelight for controversies for suggesting arbitrary cuts in many films recently.

Many prominent filmmakers have demanded change in the way the films are perceived by the Certification board.

The Government of India has formed a committee headed by the acclaimed filmmaker Shyam Benegal asking him to come up with some suggestions but they are yet to be implemented.  Shyam Benegal has recommended that there should be two categories of U/A, One Plus 12 years of age and One Plus 15 years of age and two categories of adult , One normal adult and another Adult for the certifications.

Anupam Kher who was the Chief Censor from October 2003 to 2004 says that though Shyam Benegal's recommendations should be taken into consideration, he feels people should not generalise issues as there are many other positive things that are happening and not that only negative things sell.

The belief is that Positive news and issues are not given importance or not brought up or they make news while if there is something negative its immediately in news and highlighted says the 62 year old veteran actor Anupam Kher.

The laws and issues are everywhere and all we need to is re-visit certain things to bring in more clarification and as per the rule book which was written way back in 1952.

The actor believes that its easy to criticise and point fingers at others but our country is basically only 68 years old and we have reached a level that we should be thankful for the kind of people we Indians are .

There should be a system in doing things the way it has to, while we talk about Bans and Cuts imposed by CBFC, the veteran actor went on to say the Rule book of CBFC has to be revisited as the committee was formed for the first time during Independent India but one doesn't know where it has lead it to and during his tenure he himself had released films like Black Friday, Final Solution and it all depends on the outlook you have on life and being an optimist the views may differ.

Anupam Kher pointed out that people now use a lot more of Social Media than before and use it as a tool to propagate their agendas which has become also a large platform to announce some sensational news and get noticed.  Though one should remember being on a social media one has to have a sense of responsibility and whatever you post or comment , you have to be prepared that many  who are not going to be happy about it.  You do get noticed you get the fame and its all short-lived even if the news may be something sensational but thats not what life is all about. One needs to have a longterm commitment says the actor.
