Actress Raveena Tandon says, It’s high time we realised the horrors of rape.

Film 'Maatr' Raveena Tandon starrer written by Michael Pellico and directed by Ashtar Sayed highlights the issue of violence against women specially emphasizes on the rape.

The actress is vocal on how the violence against women needs to be stopped and we need to take aggressive steps to stop this crime. We need to be more strict with harsher laws that would bring in a fear of the minds of the criminals.

Statistics show that crime against women have increased which is a clear indication that justice system fails in India to give the right kind of punishment. Therefore there is no fear of law in the country.

In the film 'Maatr' Raveena Tandon plays the role of a mother who takes upon herself to fight for her daughter who is raped. However the film does not endorse taking the law into one's hands .

'Maatr' is a film that show how rape survivors are shamed instead of being supported and that there are times politicians and religious leaders also stoop down to the level of shaming the victim rather than standing up in support.  The film also questions the regressive mindset .

The reaction to the trailer has already started a debate which will convey the message and the conversation needs to continue to reach out to more people and realise the horrors of rape.
