Deepika Padukone shares a close bond with her family, and visits them regularly in her hometown of Bangalore. She lives by herself in Prabhadevi . Deepika Padukone was born in Copenhagen, Denmark to a Konkani speaking Chitrapur Saraswat Brahmin Family. Her father is the very famous badminton player Prakash Padukone who is known for his international repute. Mother is Ujjala who runs a Travel Agency . She has one younger sister Anisha who is a golfer. The family relocated to Bangalore when Deepika was a year old . She studied in Sophia High School and completed her pre-university education at Mount Carmel College and subsequently enrolled herself at the Indira Gandhi National Open University for she completed Bachelor of Arts in Sociology but had to quit when she started getting offers for modelling. As a teenager she was following the footsteps of her father and played badminton at the National level championships, but she left her career in sports to become the fashion model. Deepika Padukone was known to be a socially awkward as a child, and was an introvert who had difficulty in making friends . The film was shelved and Farah Khan had instead cast Deepika for the film, ' Om Shanti Om' in 2007 set against the back drop of the Hindi Film Industry wherein she plays the dual roles and tells a story of struggling actor .She starred with Shahrukh Khan and Arjun Rampal in this film. 'Om Shanti Om' was commercial success and emerged as the highest grossing film of the year with a global revenue of Rs. 1.49 billion. She did several films thereafter , Chandni Chowk to China which was a kungfu comedy in which she again plays a dual role of Chinese twin sisters. It had one of the widest international releases ever given to an Indian film . For this film Deepika also learnt the Japanese martial art form of Jujutsu and performed her stunts with ease. Despite the hype the film proved to be a failure and film critics were disappointed with the film and Padukone's performance . She earned back laurels with her film, Love Aaj Kal which documented the film on the changing values of relationship among the youth. she starred opposite to Saif Ali Khan in a romantic triangle storyline. Love Aaj Kal proved to be the third highest grossing film of 2009 for which she received the nomination for Best Actress Award and won the FilmFare Awards for Best Female Debut. Her performance in the films, Lafangey Parindey and Houseful, in 2010 and Bachna Ae Haseeno in 2008 were met with negative reviews. Deepika yet again had a turning point in her film career with the 2012 box Office hit Cocktail which earned her as the Best Actress nominations at several award ceremonies and she rose to prominence with starring rolled in the comedy films, Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani , Chennai Express, Happy New Year , and the historical films, ; Bajirao Mastani, all which were ranked as the highest grossing films. Her acclaimed portrayal of a character based on Juliet in the tragic romantic film, Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela, in 2013 and the comedy drama film' Piku' with Amitabh Bachchan, won her two Best Actress Awards at the Filmfare Awards night. Deepika Padukone will soon make her debut to the Hollywood with the fim ' xXx', the Return of Xander Cage and is also considered to be one of the highest paid actresses in the World according to the Forbes Magazine.
