First music album and pre-cinema entry phase ( 2004-2011) Dosanjh after completing his formal education, released his first music album titled “Ishq Da Uda Ada” with Finetone Cassettes under the T series. Dilijit went on to sing eight tracks of the Punjabi album, D followed by his second album the same year in 2004 titled "Dil” again with Finetone Cassettes. However, he shot to fame in the Punjabi music world with his third album Smile in the year 2005, especially the tracks “Nach Diyan Alran Kuwariyan” and Paggan Pochiviyan Wale” leading big time to his wide acceptance among Punjabi folk. His next sets of albums were Ishq Ho Gaya and Chocolate. He further did a few more single albums in the ensuing years. Next, he came up with the album “Next Level” which was used in the movie “Mele Karade Rabba” with actor Jimmy Shergill who lip-synced for Dosanjh’s song in the movie. Film debut and rise to prominence (2011) Dilijit made his Punjabi film debut with the action entertainer flick 'The Lion of Punjab' along with other cast like Jividha Ashta and Pooja Tandon in the lead. Dilijit received favourable responses for his first movie outing. The Guddu Dhanao directorial saw him playing an uneducated yet headstrong youth who sets out to end his village factory only to face dire obstacles on the way. Although the remake movie bombed at the box office, the original soundtrack by Dilijit received much popularity especially the songs “Lak Twenty Eight Kudi Da” sung by Honey Singh and “Lak 28 Kudi Da” all becoming chartbusters, enjoying worldwide listeners across the globe. His second film was with the romantic comedy flick Jhine Mera Dil Luteya which saw him pairing with Gippy Grewal and Neeru Bajwa in the front lead. The film narrates the story of two carefree youths who try to woo a rich girl only to have a series of humorous events coming their way after she goes bankrupt. The Comedy of Errors flick had him in a lighter role as compared to his debut and his performance was well-received. The movie was an excellent run in Punjab and got Dilijit the PTC Punjab Film Awards Best Actor Award that year in 2012. He had sung six songs in the film. Major turnaround and Bollywood entry ( 2012- 2016) Dilijit after delivering many more hit music albums in between and making a special appearance entry into Bollywood with the Ritesh Deshmukh Starrer Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya in early 2012, then went on to be cast by Anurag Singh in his blockbuster rom-com Jatt & Juliet in mid-2012. The movie which subsequently was the biggest hit in Punjabi cinema until then was also widely applauded by the critic. The movie narrates the story of a boy and a girl dreaming of making it to Canada one day who fall in love with one another leading to much fun. The cult movie saw to it that Dilijit’s status among Punjabi moviegoers would experience a rollover change and he got his second consecutive Best Actor Award at PTC Awards. His next Punjabi production Saadi Love Story alongside Amrinder Gill and Surveen Chawla had a bad run. He was seen singing songs in the movie too. Dilijit however resurfaced with the sequel Jatt & Juliet 2 in the year 2013. The movie which saw the lead characters reprising their characters from the prequel in a different setting, also turned out to be an industry hit surpassing the previous instalment. The movie took deeper strides to expose the comic sensibilities of Dilijit and made him a bankable actor in Punjabi cinema for which he received rave reviews. Dilijit with his success step by step, went on to star in two Punjabi films Disco Singh and the National Award-winning political drama Punjab 1984, both of which saw him growing immensely as an actor and building on his already far-reaching fan base. His entry into Bollywood The year 2016 saw him finally making his much-anticipated entry into Bollywood with the offbeat social crime drama flick Udta Punjab sharing the screen space with actors Shahid Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and many more. The film was a critical blockbuster and critically acclaimed film of all time. The movie narrates the tests and tribulations in the life of a cocaine-dependent young musician, a migrant worker girl who comes across the weed, a female doctor running a rehabilitation centre and a cop who sets out to clean of drug use after it affects his brother’s life in Punjab. Dilijit who was seen playing the cop connecting the four individual tales came up with a convincing performance that was perfect for the role that he portrayed. A role that required a series of emotional setbacks amidst his duty. The movie got him A Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut the year in 2016. His most recent outing is the Hindi horror romantic comedy 'Phillauri' with Anushka Sharma in the lead has opened well. He has one more outing that is going to be released soon, once again with his Phillauri co-star Anushka Sharma funded film 'Kaneda' in 2017.
