With Grand Masti, Manjari learned to handle glamour with grace Manjari Phadnis got the big ticket to stardom with Indra Kumar’s Grand Masti, the sex comedy coming from the house of veteran the director who gave multiple hits like Dil, Beta, Ishq, Raja and several comedies like Dhamaal, Masti etc. In Grand Masti, Manjari had to shed her inhibition and display her skin. Manjari did displayed her stunning beautiful body but with grace and style. Though she was termed by media as ‘Besharam’, but Manjari acknowledges that in Bollywood shedding inhibition is sometime necessary to get into the skin of character. Hence shying away from such role is ridiculous. Hence she admits that she has learned to handle her glamour with grace. After Grand Masti Manjari got many good offers like Abbas Mastan’s comedy Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon opposite to comedy king Kapil Sharma, Walt Disney-produced superhero film Zokkomon, starring Darsheel Safary in the lead role, Wah Taj, Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai etc.
Manjari Phadnis was conscious of her beauty and wanted to be actress Being blessed by amazing beauty, Manjari Phadnis since her younger days was conscious of her beauty and made up her mind to join cinema and explore her beauty. She did her primary schooling from St. Anne’s school, Mumbai. She did her Junior College from Pune’s Fergusson College and after class XII, she insisted her parents to make a career in films. Her father an army man and her mother a housewife did not stop her and gave her freedom to pursue her passion. Though initially her parents felt that after witnessing the struggle and hardship in Mumbai, she would return but Manjari proved a tough girl and did not return. Instead she kept herself busy working by doing commercials, TV, Films in Bollywood or regional cinema.
Manjari Phadnis is single and is not involved with anybody. She is just focusing on her career.
Manjari Phadnis began her career with TV When Manjari came to Mumbai to make a career in films she was aware that it was not a cake walk. Hence she was not adamant to do films but was open for TV Commercials as well as TV. In fact, in the beginning for few years she even taught children dance in a dancing class. Manjari first got break on TV as a contestant for the Channel V TV Reality Show Popstar in its second season. Though she did not reach the final but she reached the semi-final. Later she did few TV commercials too. Meanwhile she was also doing auditions and meeting casting agency and submitting her portfolio. Manjari Phadnis handled the infamous casting couch diplomatically Like several aspiring actresses Manjari Phadnis too underwent the infamous casting couch trend in Bollywood but she says she handled it diplomatically. Recalling the ugly episode she said while pursuing a lucrative offer she was in a tight spot. The role was challenging and was a surefire hit but it had rider of casting couch. Hence Manjari politely declined and came home. Later she wept a lot but her parents were proud of her. Manjari says that casting couch is the bitter realty of Bollywood but then it is up to the actress to make a choice. Manjari got her first film in her second audition itself! After the bitter experience in her first audition, Manjari was quite lucky to pass her second audition solely on her talent and landed her debut film Rok Sako Toh Rok Lo (2004). However the film failed and she had to keep struggling. She decided to make career in regional cinema and won an important role in Bengali film Faltu (2006). Incidentally the film was a hit and won National Award for Best Film on Family Welfare. Her next film was Bollywood’s Mumbai Salsa (2007) but like her debut Bollywood film, the film too was a super duper flop. Aamir Khan discovered Manjari Phadnis After rejecting many girls Aamir Khan finally selected Manjari Phadnis to play the sensitive girl Meghna opposite Imran Khan in Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na (2008). For Manjari the selection in Aamir Khan’s film was startling. She says for many days she could not believe but when she was called for an acting workshop at Panchgani , she could finally trust that she was working in an Aamir Khan film. The film was super hit and gave a major exposé to Manjari but alas despite all publicity and media glare Manjari's career did not befit much from the film.
