Aftab Shivdasani won the Star Screen Award for the Most Promising New Comer Male in 2000 for the film Mast and the Zee Cine Award for the Best Male Debut for the same film . In 2002 Aftab Shivdasani won the nomination Filmfare Award for the Best Performance in the Negative Role for the film Kasoor. He also won the Zee Award for Best Actor in the Negative Role for the same film and once again got nominated for the Best Actor in the Negative Role by Screen Weekly Awards. In 2005 Aftab Shivdasani won the Bollywood Movie Award for Best Comedian. Aftab Shivdasani played cricket in the Celebrity Cricket league for Mumbai Heros He is fond of doing thriller films but ended up doing more of comedy films. He along with Kabir Bedi who is his co-brother in law ( their wives are sisters) raised voice against bad condition of workers who work for the fashion industry at the ‘ True Cost-The Fashion Revolutions’ event.
Sindhi born Aftab Shivdasani was born to Prem and Putli Shivdasani . His father is a Hindu Sindhi while his mother is a Parsi. He has an elder sister and he studied at St. Xavier’s High School in Mumbai. Aftab completed his graduation from H.R. College of Commerce in Mumbai. In 2012 he got engaged to Nin Dusang a London based Punjabi girl who works in Hong Kong and the couple married at a private ceremony in 2014. His wife is the younger sister of Kabir Bedi’s wife Parveen Dusanj. Shivdasani was the Farex Baby ( Baby Food Brand) model at the age of 14 months and thereafter appeared in many television commercials. He made his Bollywood entry as a Child artist for the film Mr. India in 1987 and then appeared in many more films as a child artist for films such as Awwal Number, ChaalBaaz and Insaniyat. He also played the child role of Amitabh Bachchan for the superhit film Shahenshah.
Aftab Shivdasani continued appearing in many commercials till about the age of 19 when he was noticed by Ram Gopal Varma for his directorial film Mast opposite Urmila Matondkar while he was still studying in H. R .College Shivdasani thus made his debut in the Bollywood films as an adult for this film. The film turned out to be a major success and his performance in this film earned him accolades and praises from the film fraternity at large.
Aftab switched to adult roles and breakthrough In 2000 Aftab Shivdasani appeared in Vikram Bhatt’s film Kasoor with Lisa Ray for which he received Zee Cine Award for Best Actor in a Negative role. He also earned the Filmfare Best Villain Award for his role. For the film Mast he earned the Star Screen Award for most promising newcomer male and received critical acclaim for his performance . Aftab Shivdasani is a suave magnate that catches your attention with his unassuming performance that gives him an edge over others because he has played the character that has been appealing to the audience. Followed by his success, Shivdasani once again got down to doing a film for Ram Gopal Varma again for the film Love Ke Liye Kuchh Bhi Karega which he has starred with Saif Ali Khan, Fardeen Khan, Twinkle Khanna and Sonali Bendre. He turned out to be the most promising actor amongst the other two . His scenes with Johny Lever were simply superb and he got applauded for his excellent performance in the role. However as much as the film was loved by the public it failed at the Box office. His next release of that year was with Rajiv Rai for Pyaar Ishq Aur Mohabbat in which Aftab Shivdasani played Tarj Bharadwaj with Arjun Rampal, Suneil Shetty and Kirti Reddy who were the debutant opposite Shivdasani. He is known to be a natural and lovable character in most of the films he has been a part of and as an actor he is very impressive and over the year matured as one of the finest actor of the Hindi cinema. In 2002, Aftab’s two films were released they were Koi Mere Dil Se Pooche opposite Esha Deol for her debut film and Kya Yehi Pyaar Hai opposite Ameesha Patel but both were unfortunately box office failures. His third release for that year was Rajkumar Kohli’s multi-starrer film Jaani Dushman. Ek Anokhi Kahani , a film on supernatural horror and was once again a super flop as the story was not appealing at all to the masses. Then came his action comedy film Awara Paagal Deewana in 2002 that proved to be a successful movie and the film went on to be the highest grossing film of the year. It was the only hit film of the year followed by his last and final release in 2002 which was Pyaasa. After the consecutive failures at the box office and unsuccessful year for Shivdasani, he starred in the multi-starrer film Darna Mana Hai which received critical success. His role as Purab , a young college student who has the ability to stop and move people was critically praised. His next release was Priyadarshan’s comedy film Hungama with Akshaye Khanna and the debutant actress Rimi Sen. The film went on to be a grand success and a much loved film by the masses. The film Footpath followed soon after , saw him acting opposite Bipasha Basu, Rahul Dev and debutant Emraan Hashmi which again failed to do well at the box office. In 2004 Aftab Shivdasani had two releases which were Suno Sasurjee opposite Ameesha Patel and Muskaan opposite Gracy Singh. Both films flopped at the box office. He was a part of the film by Indra Kumar’s comedy film Masti in which he stars opposite Vivek Oberoi, Riteish Deshmukh, Amrita Rao, Genelia D’Souza, Tara Sharma , Lara Dutta and Ajay Devgan. The film was a success . He then went on to do a few more films like Shukriya . In 2005 Aftab did a role in Mr Ya Miss opposite Antara Mali and Koi Aap Sa opposite Natasha and both these films flopped so Aftab Shivdasani had to go through upheaval in his career but that didnt stop the directors from casting him in their films and in 2006 to 2009, saw Shivdasani being a part of some successful films once again. Some of the films he acted in were Aao Wish Karein, which was also produced by his production company called the Rising Sun Entertainment followed by his appearance in the film Acid Factory in 2011 , Bin Bulaye Baraati in 2012 and a super hit film 1920 Evil Returns . His next release was the Grand Masti a sequel to the 2004 blockbuster Masti was also a super duper film like the original.
