He made his first debut and then starred as the lead actor in the Telegu film Vamsa Vriksham directed by Bapu in 1980. He then made a debut in the Kannada film with Mani Ratnam’s Pallavi Anu Pallavi in 1984. For his role as the Supporting Actor in the film Mashaal in 1984 by Yash Chopra, he won the Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award. Anil Kapoor shared the screen with Amitabh Bachchan for the first time in the film Armaan. He did a few more releases like Calcutta Mail, Musafir, My Wife’s Murder which he also produced and Anees Bazmee’s super hit film No-Entry in 2005, which became the highest-grossing film of the year. He was also in the film Bewafaa in 2005 with Kareena Kapoor and Sushmita Sen who plays a grey character with finesse followed by his role in the thriller film Chocolate and his first release in 2007. Salaam-E-Ishq a tribute to Love was a box office hit in the overseas entertainment segment though a flop in India. . His film ‘ Welcome’ was declared the Biggest successful film of the year. Vijay Krishna Acharya’s film Tashan marked Anil Kapoor’s comeback to Yashraj Films but failed to do well at the Box office. His most recent films were his first English Language film Slumdog Millionaire which was released in 2008 and a worldwide acclaimed film. Followed by Yuvraaj Slumdog Millionaire won him several International Awards and received reviews from critics. This film cost only US 15 million to produce but pulled out $352 Million worldwide.
