Arbaaz Khan from a flop actor to a successful filmmaker

Younger brother of superstar Salman Khan and son of popular script writer Salim Khan (of famed Salim Javed pair who wrote hit films like Sholay, Deewaar, Don, Trishul, Mr. India etc) Arbaaz Khan had a red carpet welcome in Bollywood but his choice of playing villain in his debut film Daraar ( 1996) misfired and after this he was not able to recover as an actor.

Despite few hit films like Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya (1998),  Hulchul (2004), Malamaal Weekly (2006), Bhagam Bhag (2006), Shootout at Lokhandwala(2013),  Fool and Final (2007) Arbaaz Khan could not make it big. His brief cameo in Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na (2008) won him wide acclaim but it was Dabangg as a producer and Dabangg 2 as director that brought out the star in Arbaaz Khan.

Salman Khan would bully Arbaaz Khan in his childhood

Arbaaz Khan is younger to Salman Khan and Sohail Khan is the youngest of the lot.

All three brothers studied at India’s most oldest and premium Scindia Boarding school in Gwalior. The brothers had a lot of fun in childhood. But all three had great respect for their father eminent script writer Salim Khan.

Recalling his childhood Arbaaz once said that whenever his father gave a call, all the three brothers would rush and fulfill his need.  Even today all brothers share a cherished relation with him. He is more like a friend to them.

Since Arbaaz was younger to Salman hence Salman would bully him. Arbaaz recollects that many times Salman would beat him. Once when they were studying for their school exam, Salman, who was not much interested in studies, mistakenly learned History instead of Geography, which was suppose to be the exam next day.

Hence Arbaaz made fun of him. This made Salman angry and in anger Salman threw a pencil, at laughing Arbaaz, which hit so hard on his bare chest that it started bleeding!  After this incident Arbaaz kept distance and was afraid of Salman’s fury.

Incidentally the TV commercial was quite bold and seductive in which the two were depicted having intimate romance. The commercial was so hot that it was banned by the right wing organizing demanding it was derogatory for showing on TV that is watched by family!

The commercial made much headline in media and gave more publicity to Arbaaz and Malika.

Meanwhile after performing the ‘intimate commercial’ both Arbaaz and Malaika came close and started dating which lasted 5 years and in December 12,1998, the two tied the nuptial knot.

The wedding was conducted according to both Islam and Christianity rituals. In the morning wedding was held at Bandra Church and evening the traditional Muslim Nikah was performed.

Since the movie was a rehash of Hollywood film ‘Sleeping with the enemy’ and had already been made in Bollywood twice as Rishi Kapoor’s Yaraana (1995) and Nana Patekar’s Agni Sakshi (1996) hence Daraar could not create miracles at box office.
