Fawad Khan did Khoobsurat to prove that a good actor can convert ‘insignificant’ role into a ‘significant’ one! Bored by doing repetitive roles in TV, Fawad decided to experiment and began hunting roles in Bollywood. To his fortune the casting director of Khoobsurat was impressed by Fawad’s regal personality and invited him to India as he searching an actor who looked like a royal prince. Fawad suited to perfect T in the film. Before coming to India, Fawad saw the original old version of the film (Starring Rekha and Rakesh Roshan). He read the script and agreed to do the film. Though the film was woman centric yet Fawad with his small role left the Indian critics dazed with his powerhouse performance and won many awards and laurels. On being quizzed that wasn’t he afraid about the lead actress Sonam overpowering him as she had an authored back character? Fawad in an interview informed that he was offered many male centric roles in Bollywood and he was supposed to make debut in 2008. But he intentionally selected a woman centric film because he wanted to prove his critics that an actor can steal thunder even with a small role, if he puts his soul into the role. Fawad Khan was aware that to make a career in Bollywood he had to give his best and the best way was to prove his credential enacting an ‘insignificant’ role into a ‘significant’ one! The role fetched him many awards and it became a milestone in his career.
Fawad Khan wanted to do animation Since Fawad’s father had a sales job in a corporate pharmaceutical company, he was required to move around the globe. Though a resident of Lahore, he moved to Athens, Dubai, Saudi Arabia and Riyadh and Manchester during the Gulf War. When he developed heart problem he took VRS (Voluntary Retirement Scheme). As a child Fawad was creatively inclined towards cartoon and aspired to take up animation as his career but due to lack of proper career guidance he took up degree in computer science from National University of Computer and Emerging Science (NUCES). At college Fawad Khan came in contact with a music band At college Fawad found his subject boring and ended up passing with C-Grade but his career took a turn as he got involved with a music band called Entity Paradigm in Lahore and soon escalated as the lead singer in the band. The band had just 5-6 boys passionate about music and would practice music inside a garage. But Fawad had a good sense of music and this helped the band to grow. The band’s first album was Irtiqa which was a huge hit. Soon the band began performing professionally and did almost 250 shows. The band performed largely progressive metal music and was a craze among the youth of Pakistan. With the money generated, Fawad invested the amount in making a recording studio.
Fawad Khan fell in love at the age of 17 Fawad Khan fell in love with Sadaf when they studied together at Lahore Grammar School. For Fawad it was love at first sight. But there was objection from Sadaf’s family because Fawad was into Music and TV, which Sadaf’s family did not approve. Hence to win the heart of Sadaf’s family, Fawad quit Music and TV and joined an office job. The family agreed and on 12th Nov 2005, the couple tied the knot.
Fawad Khan took up acting accidentally Fawad Khan was involved in music and his band when he fell in love with Sadaf. She used to study at a university, which was far away from Fawad’s college but Fawad made it a point to pick her up from her university. While going to pick her up he had to wait long time outside the college gate. Hence he joined a theatre group nearby and would pass-time till Sadaf’s college ended. While doing theatre he gradually developed passion for acting. His first play was of an Urdu adaptation of Spartacus in 1999. He was just 18 years then. The director of the play, happened to be TV serial director too. He was impressed by Fawad and signed him for a TV serial, Jutt and Bond. He offered Fawad a handsome amount of Rs 3,000 per episode. The serial was weekly. Hence Fawad made a cool Rs 12000 per month. Fawad, who was still studying in college, grabbed the role with both the hands as he felt like a king as he could spend huge amount on his girlfriend. Fawad initially did TV with a heavy heart but TV made him a huge star Initially Fawad did TV for lure of good money but he was not sure whether he would get any success and started to eye for a role in a movie. To his fortune he was cast in the film Khuda Ke Liye (2007). The movie was super hit globally and won many awards for Fawad Khan. Fawad was on sky nine and thought the film will make him a star but alas the film did not bring stardom to Fawad and he was forced to do TV. He did many serials like Humsafar, Dastaan, Zindagi Gulzar Hai etc. Soon Fawad became famous and almost a star icon among the youth around the globe. Millions of girls became his fans. Fawad was left mesmerized by the huge popularity of TV. Fawad Khan was not sure that he would be accepted in India Even before Fawad Khan became a name to reckon in Bollywood after the mega success of Khoobsurat, Fawad first became a household name in India thanks to his popular TV serial Zindagi Gulzar Hai. However readers would be surprised to know that Fawad was not sure about the success of the TV serial in India. He had apprehensions as he felt the sensitive India-Pakistan relations depicted in the serial will be accepted by Indian or not? However, he was surprised by the fantastic reception that he won from Indian after the serial began to be aired on TV. Fawad Khan became an instant star with Khoobsurat After the huge success of Khoobsuart, more than Sonam Kapoor, it was Fawad Khan who became a heartthrob of movie buffs. He won the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut and was signed by Karan Johar for his two films Kapoor & Sons and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. As usual he impressed the audience and the critics alike with his fabulous performance. Fawad Khan had to pack his bags from India When Fawad was set to rule Bollywood, lady luck betrayed him. The Uri attack in which 17 Indian soldiers were killed by Pakistani troops created tension between India and Pakistan. Raj Thackeray led MNS gave ultimatum to Pakistani artist working in India to go back to Pakistan. Fawad Khan went back and entertainment industry lost a pure genius in the tussle between the politics of rival countries.
