Mustafa did his education in a Film Making Course at the New York Film Academy for a year and half which got him to learn the basics . He later attended the National School of Drama(NSD) for six months and prepared himself for his acting skills under the guidance of NK. Sharma, the NSD Director. He is a trained dancer and a gymnast. For a while he assisted his the Abbas-Mustan to learn the finesse in film making.
Mustafa is the son of director Abbas Alibhai Burmawalla of the Abbas-Mustan fame. He is the nephew of director Mastan Alibhai Burmawalla. By religion he practices Zoroastrianism(Parsi)
He loves travelling and seeing new places and took off time to see the beautiful country Tunisia. Mustafa is fond of dancing, listening to music, driving and travelling.
Being the son of the famous director Abbas Alibhai Burmawala, it had to be films for the young Mustafa though when he was born the duo Abbas-Mustan (His father and Uncle team) were not doing too well and they had a few flop films to their credit. However in 1992, their film Khiladi was a super hit and the pair reached its fame and he is the newbie in the film industry .
Burmawala started his film career with the film Coffee Shop in 2008 followed by Players in 2012.
Coming from a filmy background and another celeb kid, it was expected he would also join the elite list of the star kids who got launched in films and so did Mustafa.
After his debut films, he did a film ‘Machine’ which was released in 2017 which did fairly well, produced by Haresh Patel, Pranay Chokshi, Dhaval Gada and Jayantilal Gada directed by his home production Abbas-Mustan. In the film he starred opposite Kiara Advani , Ronit Roy and Supriya Karnik. The film was a romantic thriller and extensively shot in Georgia. He plays the role of Ransh Thapar . The film failed at the box office but that did not discourage him to stop trying. He says it is always nice to work with others too and believes that failures are a part of the life , that if you don’t fail you don’t know the taste of success.
He is gearing up for his next film which is set in the Indian Army directed by Siddharth Kumar , a solo-hero film that revolves around just two characters. The film is expected to go on floors in June-July of 2018 and will be shot entirely in North India. The name of the film is yet to be confirmed. He hopes to make a promising beginning once again and after two years or so , he wants to be back, doing a film in his father-uncle production team.
