In his career in the film industry, he has become one of the most popular celebrities one of the most handsome actors and the highest-paid actor in India. He made his acting debut with Bhansali’s tragic romantic film Saawariya in 2007 which was a Box office flop but his acting was noticeable and he was nominated for the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actor for his performance in three of his films in 2009.
The other two films were Wake Up Sid and Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani and the drama film Rocket Singh: Sales Man of the Year.
He won two consecutive Best Actor Awards at Filmfare for portraying a troubled musician in the film Rockstar in 2011 and a deaf and mute man in a comedy role in the film Barfi in 2012.
His film Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani in 2013 is one of the highest-grossing Bollywood films which established him as one of the leading Bollywood Actors. However,r he acted in a few more films thereafter which didn’t do too well at the box office like the film Tamasha a romantic drama that was underperformed but his role was appreciated.

In the same year, he did more films and collaborated with Priyanka Chopra in the film Anjaana Anjaani an intense film with comedy. The film did moderately well but he gained praise for his role from the critics. Followed by his item number in the Children’s film Chillar Party in 2011, he took on the powerful role of a rock star in the film of the same name, a story of an aspiring musician from a humble background to an international stardom. To prepare for this role, Ranbir took up studying their mannerisms. he learnt to play the guitar and practised extensively at A R Rehman’s music studio. As a part of the film’s promotion, he also performed live concerts in Mumbai.
He won the Best Actor Award at the 57th Filmfare Awards and also awards at the Screen Awards and IIFA while the film also touched a gross revenue of 1.07 billion and the film Rockstar was considered to be one of the top-grossing films of the year.
In the comedy film Barfi which earned a box office success, he played the role of a deaf and mute man. The role had the streaks of the performance of Charlie Chaplin’s mannerisms and he received praise for his performance as a tribute role, the film was showcased as India’s Official entry for the 85th Academy Awards to be screened at the Marrakech and Busan International Film Festival. He won the second consecutive Best Actor Award at Filmfare, Screen and IIFA Award Ceremonies.
Ranbir further achieved a grand success with his film Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani, which was again one of the highest-grossing Bollywood films of that year. Next was his film Besharam with his parents Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh, an action comedy film that met with negative reception and the film emerged as a failure at the box office.
Ranbir Kapoor then took a year-long break from the films and featured later as a mysterious thief in the film Roy in 2015, a romantic thriller that was again a failure he did a few more flop films and with the film Bombay Velvet which was a successful film and also screened at Locarno and Bucheon Film Festivals.
After Ranbir and Deepika Padukone's break in their personal lives, they reunited on the professional front in the romantic drama Tamasha in 2015, produced by Imtiaz Ali. The film failed commercially and received mixed reviews; however, his performance was praised. The film earned him the nomination for Best Actor.
Ranbir’s upcoming projects in 2016 are the films Ae Dil Hai Mushkil co-starring with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Anushka Sharma. He will essay the role of a musician once again and the comedy-mystery film Jagga Jasoos will feature him with Katrina Kaif in the role of a teenage detective to be released later this year.
In addition, he has a few more films signed up opposite Alia Bhatt in Ayan Mukerji’s Dragon, a fantasy film about a man with super powers and another film in which he will portray the actor Sanjay Dutt in a biopic directed by Rajkumar Hirani.
