Ronit Roy feels Sarkar 3 will be milestone of his career After gathering huge success as the baddie in Hrithik Roshan’s Kaabil and the underworld don in Dongri Ka Raja, Ronit Roy has become the raising villain in Bollywood. With his next film Sarkar 3 opposite Amitabh Bachchan, Ronit Roy plays again a villain role and is over the moon. He feels the movie will be his career’s milestone movie. Ram Gopal Verma, known for selecting excellent actors was floored when he happened to see Ronit Roy on the sets of Dongri Ka Raja, dressed in black pathani suit and his dark kohl-lined eyes looking menacing. In Dongri Ka Raja, Ronit Roy paled an evil character of underworld don, Mansoor Ali. Ram Gopal Verma was bowled over by Rohit’s dashing personality and threatening get-up hence he signed him instantly for Sarkar 3. Ronit Roy who has seen the rushes of the film is confident that the film will be by far his best performance.

He dreamt of living life king-size; drive in Mercedes and have girls around him Ronit Roy was born in a rich family as his father was a businessman. After his schooling he did his Diploma in Catering and Applied Nutrition Technology from the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Gujarat. He came to Mumbai to do his traineeship at Sea Rock Hotel in Mumbai. During his stay in Mumbai he resided at film director Subhash Ghai’s house, a close pal of his father. Though he was doing Hotel Management but his heart lay in films and he dreamt of being a top hero and living life king-size. His ambition was moving in White long Mercedes with girls going crazy at him as they did with superstar Rajesh Khanna. Subhash Ghai saw his keenness in films but he persuaded him to focus on in his Hotel career rather than films as it was an unstable career.

Ronit Roy married Neelam after 3 years of dating and understanding each other Ronit Roy and model turned actress Neelam got married after a dating for three years. It love at first sight but still they made sure to know each other well as Ronit Roy had undergone a troubled marriage hence he did not wanted to take risk of blindly falling in love. Before marrying Neelam, Ronit Roy had been married and had a beautiful daughter Ona but the relationship could not last long and the marriage ended in a divorce. Ronit laments that he could not spend quality time with her daughter Ona, whom he loved so dearly. Now his daughter is in US and she communicates with him. After a flop marriage Ronit married Neelam on December 25, 2003. Both have been living happily. They have two children a son and a daughter.

Ronit Roy declined Subhash Ghai’s advice and paid a huge price Blindfolded in the passion for becoming a film star, Ronit Roy ignored the advice of Subhash Ghai and jumped into the wobbly world of films. But to Ronit Roy’s fortune his debut film Jaan Tere Naam (1992) became a huge commercial hit and Roy was flooded with offers. Intoxicated by instant success Ronit Roy was on sky nine and in his intoxication he signed mindless films like 15 August, Sainik, Tahqiqaat, Bomb Blast, Hulchul , Jurmana, Army etc all the films were bitter failures and Ronit Roy was thrown out from the film industry. His dream of leading a princely life was shattered. His condition became so worse that he survived on Vada –Pav ( Mumbaikar cheapest food to survive). He travelled five kilometer on foot from Versova to his parent’s house at Oshiwara to borrow money. He realized the fickleness of Bollywood and repented not following Subhash Ghai’s advice. When Ronit Roy was down and out in Bollywood, TV rescued him After a chain of flops Ronit Roy was sidelined by Bollywood as a junk actor. It was during this phase when he was not getting any roles in Bollywood suddenly he got a call from Ekta Kapoor’s Production house Balaji Telefilm in the serial Kammal. Ronit Roy who was going through lean phase and had hard times surveying hence he gave his nod to the serial because he was being offered Rs 250 per day and this was adequate amount to sustain him. Before Kammal could begin, Balaji TV decided to experiment with Ronit Roy as Rishabh Bajaj in their popular TV serial Kasautii Zindagii Kay. As Rishabh Bajaj, Ronit Roy stole thunder with his magnificent performance as callous yet urbane middle aged business tycoon. The role became such a craze that Ronit Roy’s role was extended and he was even replaced as Mihir Virani in the most popular TV serial of India, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. He replaced the actor Amir Upadhyay. Soon he became TV industry’s Highest Paid actor after the hugely success of Dharamraj in the TV serial Bandini. His portrayal of crude haughty and wicket diamond merchant fetched him more laurels as a master in negative roles. His other notable acts on TV include Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, a dance reality show, Adv. KD Pathak in TV serial Adaalat, Bhishma in Kahaani Hamaaray Mahaabhaarat Ki, Dr. Nachiket Khanna/ Dr.Neil K in Itna Karo Na Mujhe Pyaar etc. Anurag Kashyap gave a new lease of life to Ronit Roy in Bollywood After a bitter failure in Bollywood, Ronit Roy had almost given hope of returning back to Bollywood but thanks to the hawk eyes of filmmaker Anurag Kashyap who gave a new lease of life to Ronit Roy in his film Udaan ( 2010). Anurag Kashyap was in search of an actor who could portray a middle aged stern father convincingly. He happened to watch Ronit Roy on TV as Dharamraj in the TV serial Bandini and offered him the role in Udaan of a rude, alcoholic and an abusive father. Ronit Roy pumped all his energies into the role and went away stealing honors at all the major award nites. He won the Filmfare, Screen and the Global Indian Film and Television award as Best actor in Negative role. The award won him more films like Student of the Year, Shootout at Wadala, 2 States, Ugly, Boss, Guddu Rangeela etc.
