Biography
Samir Choughule is a very famous television actor, prominent and widely celebrated star or is also called the Comedy Cha Shahen shah in Marathi television and theatre. Throughout his career which is over three decades, Samir has been a versatile support actor in films and television serials as well.
Samir got his big break in the play directed by Santosh Pawar which helped him start his career as a professional artist in the entertainment industry. He has also written around two hundred episodes of Marathi television series, called Aggabai Sasubai. The show as directed by Ajay Mayekar and was aired on Zee Marathi.
He gradually transitioned from supporting actor roles in films to headlining as the male lead in many blockbuster feature Marathi films and dubbed Hindi.
Gulkhand released in 2025 marked the major career milestone where he played the lead role alongside Sai Tamhankar. A highly successful family drama that he had a pivotal role in the film.
Phullwanti released in 2024, he played the character of Wamanrao in this much celebrated historical period drama.
In Bamboo released in 2023, Samir Choughule had a comedic role in the feature film.
Between 2022 and 2025, he has done several other films such as Jaggu Ani Juliet, Chandramukhi, Boyz 3, Hawahawai and A Paying Ghost in 2015.
While Samir Choughule has over 15 films prior to his first lead role , he is one of the prominent actors in Marathi theatre. He is much acclaimed artist for his role in Vastraharan, Asa Mil Asa Mi and in Vyakti Anhi Valli.
He is best known for his slapstick and situational comedy and is one of the most popular and much loved actor, a household name across Maharashtra for his prominent an lead role in the series, Maharashtrachi Hasya Jatra.
Samir has also been a regular contributor to e-paper called, saamana under the column Fulore where he writes about his interesting flavours of life.
Samir has also been part of the regional films and in standalone Hindi dubbed feature films which are available online streaming with Hindi dubbed or subtitled films.
Samir recently worked in an ad film with Bollywood actor Rajkumar Rao. He said he was extremely happy to be working with one of his favorite actors of the Hindi cinema.
He has received several awards and recognition for his outstanding performances and has won the Sanskruti Kaladarpan Natya Vibhag Award in 2016 and won the Zee Natya Gourav Puraskar in 2015 for the best comedian actor for the Drama Balak Palak.
Some of his most popular Marathi films and theatre plays in which he has essayed notable characters is Kavyacha Bola, Aajcha Diwas Majha, Vakratunda Mahakarya, Vikun Taak. His television serials are Tikal Te Political, Ambat Godh, Honar Sun Me Hya Gharchi, Comedychi Bullet Trian and films such as Kunku, Aajke Shriman Shrimati, Saare Tujhyachsathi, Assa Maher Noko Ga Baai and Post Office Ughade Aahe.
