Shreyas Talpade was born in Mumbai in a family with two actresses Jayashree T and Meena T who were his aunts. Talpade after completing his schooling from Shree Ram Welfare Society High School in Andheri. After completing his graduation, he went on to make his acting debut in Hindi serials and through stage shows across Maharashtra. His initial stint in Television with serials like Woh , Damini which led to him appearing in short unnoticed roles in Hindi films like Nidaan, Aankhen , Pachadlela,Revati and many more which led to his lead role debut through Iqbal in 2005.

Shreyas Talpade is married to Deepti Talpade, who is a psychologist by profession. The duo incidentally met first at a college, when he had visited as a celebrity back in the day and she was the general secretary of the union and the two eventually fell in love.

Film debut and rise to prominence ( 2005-2007) Shreyas Talpade made his acting debut in Bollywood with Nagesh Kukunoor’s coming of age sports drama flick Iqbal, which saw him playing a deaf and mute youngster who aspires to be a cricketer one day. The film saw him sharing screen with Stalwarts like Naseeruddin Shah, Girish Karnad and many more. The National Award winning movie shot him to instant fame and he was widely applauded for his spectacular debut and critics cited his performances to be highly nuanced throughout the portrayal of the psychological up and downs of the special labelled character. The movie was a commercial and critical revelation and got Talpade Zee Cine Critics Award for Best Actor in the 2005. Shreyas Talpade was roped in by Nagesh Kukunoor to essay the male lead in his women centric emotional drama film Dor along with Ayesha Takia and Gul Panag in the lead. Shreyas Talpade was seen playing a diverse character with contrasting shades and delivered a strong punch with his soulful rendition. After the initial stint in critically acclaimed movies he soon shifted base to more mainstream productions with movies like the ensemble comedy Apna Sapna Money Money which was a mediocre outing but later got noted for playing ShahRukh Khan’s sidekick in the blockbuster re-incarnation romantic drama Om Shanti Om which saw him playing two time periods of the same character and was seen in an over the top comical stint in the earlier proceeding to a more matured second half makeover. The huge critical and commercial success of the movie got Talpade noted in Bollywood. Subsequent films ( 2008-2011) Shreyas Talpade was again roped in by Nagesh Kukunoor for his cross cultural Bollywood comedy flick Bombay to Bangkok in 2008 which was also critically acclaimed. After taking a detour to Marathi cinema with his debut home production Sanai Chaugahde. Shreyas had a major turnaround when he was called upon by legendary director Shyam Benegal for his mainstream comedy flick Welcome to Sajjanpur which had Talpade playing the male lead alongside Amrita Rao. The satirical take on life in rural India had Talpade playing an unemployed graduate who is forced to make a living writing letters for the uneducated people which lead to humorous situations. The same year he was roped in by Rohit Shetty for the second instalment of the blockbuster Golmaal franchise along with an ensemble star cast including Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor, Arshad Warshi , Tusshar Kapoor and Talpade was seen pairing with Celina Jaitley who played his love interest in the movie and was seen donning the character with the ever green humorous USP name of Bollywood “Anthony Gonsalves” whose false identity results in a series of comedy of errors. The movie panned out to be a super hit outing and gave the commercial boost Talpada’s career prospects were looking at that moment. In 2008 he also rendered his voice for the historic character “Narad” in the animated epic Dashavatar with actors like Sachin Khedekar and Roopa Ganguly dubbing for other pivotal characters. He then went on to play among the lead in major underperformer flicks like Paying Guest, Aagey Se Right, Click and then went on to be a part of more serious productions like The Hangman, Help. However he got a much needed break in the year 2010 with Golmaal 3 in which he reprised his part from the second part and was seen once again scoring big time with his on screen antics in the blockbuster. Talpade was then seen playing among an ensemble cast in Vinay Shukla’s directorial anthology flick Mirch , which saw Shreyas Talpade pairing opposite Raima Sen in one of the four films of the anthology. He played a prankster husband who resorts to disguises to test his wife’s true nature after a challenge. The movie which bagged mostly mixed reviews had him coming up with a rave act.
