Amy Jackson is one of the most popular ambassadors of South Indian cinema in the recent years. She has cemented her place in Indian film industry with just a hand full of films in her kitty in a seven year film career. Amy Jackson is one of the few actresses who despite being a foreigner by birth who has been successfully been able to make a name for herself in the top league of Indian cinema in various languages. Other than being a reputed and successful model, she has proved her mettle in acting in films such as Madrasapattinam, Ek Dewaana Tha and has also been part of commercial potboilers like “I”, Singh is Bliing and Freaky Ali.

Amy Jackson was born in England to British parents Alan Jackson and Marguerita Jackson as the younger daughter. After finishing her education from St Edwards College, she went on to win the Miss Teen Liverpool and Miss Teen World in the year 2009. She then went on to participate and win in various modelling events like Miss England Pageant , Miss Liverpool and various other events which led to her being spotted by Indian film producers in the year 2010 on Miss Teen World website. She after appearing for an audition got selected for her film debut in the year 2010.

Amy Jackson was in a live in relationship with her ” Ek Hasina Thi” co-star Prateik Babbar in the year 2012 but the couple later parted ways the same year. Amy Jackson was then reported to be dating boxer Joe Selkirk in the year 2013 but the relationship too turned out to be short loved after she was attacked by him later on.

Film debut and rise to prominence ( 2010-2011) Amy Jackson made her official entry in to cinema with A L Vijay’s Tamil language historic epic drama film Madrasapattinam which saw her pairing opposite Arya in the lead. The critically acclaimed flick saw her playing a British governor’s daughter who falls in love with an Indian village boy in pre independent India. Her endearing looks and pitch perfect casting gave her a major break through the movie with her being recognized in other Indian film industries as well. Her widely accepted avatar led her to making her Hindi film debut with Gautam Vasudev Menon’s romcom Ekk Deewana Tha where she was paired opposite actor Prateik Babbar. The movie which narrated the story of a Brahmin assistant director who falls in love with a Malayali Christian girl amidst major heartbreaks and the character saw her coming up with a blinder and her towering chemistry with Babbar was highly appreciated although the movie failed to garner much attention panning out to be only a mediocre outing. Amy Jackson had made her entry worthwhile with pulling off difficult roles with much ease. She then returned to Tamil cinema with Vikram’s action thriller flick Thaandavam which saw her in a major supporting role along with other actresses like Anushka Shetty and Raai Laxmi in the lead. The A L Vijay directorial again had her playing a British descendant girl and her performance fetched her Filmfare Nomination for Best Supporting Actress in the year 2011. Her next major release was the hit Telugu production Yevadu alongside Ram Charan and Shruti Haasan in the year Magnum opus and other subsequent releases ( 2015-2016) Amy Jackson was then roped in by master showman filmmaker S Shankar for his romantic thriller flick I which was one of the most expensive Indian films ever made until then. The flick starring Vikram as the male lead narrated the story of a bodybuilder turned star model that wrecks revenge on the people who mocked him being deformed owing to his popularity and envious love life, had Jackson play a super model. The film had her as the major plot device and the much of the action centred on her and she was seen getting deep under the psyche of the “traditional commercial heroine” part with much panache and served the purpose hands down with her sharp looks and affluent depiction. The blockbuster success of the movie led to catapulting to the top league in a jiffy. Jackson’s next release too was in Tamil with Dhanush’s super hit coming of age romcom Thanga Magan which too fared well and brought out a hitherto unseen facet of her charm on screen. She then went on to be a part of Vijay’s cop thriller flick Their which had her going through the motions in a clichéd part but the immense acceptance and success of the movie did well for her career prospects. The same year 2015, saw her return to Bollywood with Akshay Kumar’s comedy film Singh is Bliing . The comedy of errors flick had her playing a Romanian returnee who sets out to find her mother in Goa after her gangster dad’s death. She was first seen in an in and out comic flick and although had nothing in particular to do succeeded in making a name for herself in B-town with the commercial success of the movie. Her next Hindi outing was Sohail Khan directorial sports comedy film Freaky Ali which had her sharing screen with Nawazuddin Siddiqui in the main lead.
