Anushka Shetty has been immortalized in Baahubali -2 Just as legendary film wizard Mehboob Khan gave the brilliant actress Nargis, a larger than life role in Mother India (1957), sixty years later film champion S.S. Rajamouli, trusted South Sensation Anushka Shetty and offered her a lifetime role of Maharani Devasena in Baahubali – I and Baahubali –II. Like Nargis’s role in Mother India, Anushka Shetty’s role is also a complete circle of a woman’s life beginning from her stunning youth to her dynamics as a fiery old lady. Such roles are written once in a lifetime and Anushka Shetty feels jubilant at being able to live- up to film director’s expectation. Just as Nargis had put all her energy in her performance in Mother India, truly Anushka Shetty has also pumped all her dynamics as an actress and has emerged triumphant. Apart from her dazzling beauty what captivates the audience is her gallant body language, her royal allure, her expressive eyes, her facial emotion and the voice modulations in her youth and old age. In nutshell, her performance steals the show and makes her immortal in Indian cinema.
From Yoga to Cinema, Anushka Shetty is a Yoga enthusiast. Even today without Yoga her day never begins. Yoga is not just part of her life but it is her life. She derives mental and physical relaxation through Yoga. She learned Yoga from Yoga guru Bharat Thakur. She met him at a mediation workshop and was delighted by his teaching. Later after completing her training in Yoga from Bharat Thakur, Anushka started her Yoga classes and had 40-50 students of all age, particularly old people in the age of 50 to 70. She loved teaching them Yoga and enjoyed interacting with the old people who shared with her their family woes. A film director E Nivas, an assistant of film legend Ram Gopal Verma, also thronged her Yoga classes and was overwhelmed by Anushka’s beauty. One day Nivas’s friend Puri Jagananth told him that he was looking for a fresh face for South superstar Nagarjuna Akkineni’s upcoming film. Nivas decided to approach Anushka Shetty. But before that he taught it wise to take Bharat Thakur’s permission. Thakur took the message to Anushka and she had signed the dotted line. Thus on her Yoga Guru Bharat Thakur’s insistence she ventured in to Telugu cinema with her debut Film Super (2005).
Anushka Shetty dismisses rumors of her marriage Though pretty Anushka Shetty is 35 years and is marriageable age, she is not interested in marriage and wishes to focus on her filmy career that has now won national and global attention after her spectacular performance in Baahubali 2. While Anushka has sidelined marriage, the media is ripe with imaginative stories about her marriage. She has been linked with her co-star Prabhas (hero of Baagubali 2) and South star Arya, with whom she has done many films like Irandam Ulagam (2013– Tamil) ; Size Zero (2015– Telugu). She has also been linked to a multi-billion Industrialist but Anushka Shetty has denied all relations. In a recent press conference she declined all the news of her marriage as rumors and assured media that if marries it would be probably be a love marriage but still she has not found her Mr. Right! She said when she finds her Mr. Right; she will announce about her marriage and not tie the knot in secret!
How Sweety became Anushka Shetty Few are aware that Anushka Shetty’s real name is Sweety Shetty. When she was born she was so sweet and cute that she was named Sweety. But when she joined cinema, she felt embarrassed people addressing her Sweety hence she changed her name to Anushka Shetty. Anushka claims she had hard time selecting her screen name. She bought a kids name book and selected Anushka after hours of going through the name list but alas when Anushka had finalized her name she found another actress by the same name making it big in Bollywood – yes you have guessed it right Anushka Sharma! But Anushka Shetty made her debut in 2005 with Telugu film Super, while Anushka Sharma made her debut in Bollywood in 2008 in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. Though everybody calls Anushka Shetty by her screen name, only filmmaker S.S. Rajamouli calls her with her original name as he is close to her and her mentor. Her commitment and dedication made her ‘Star’ Actress Though Anushuka Shetty’s debut film Super was a flop but her next film Vikramarkudu directed by SS Rajamouli won her recognition and fame. After this she never looked back. Her dedication, commitment and her intelligence in choosing her roles took her to dizzy heights in South film industry. She not only won commercial success mostly in Telugu and Tamil films but won three CineMAA Awards, a Nandi Award, and three Filmfare Awards among eight nominations. Anushka Shetty proved her mettle playing a double role in Telugu film Arundhati (2009) which fetched her first Filmfare award and the very next year she won her second consecutive Filmfare award in Vedam (2010) in which she played a prostitute role with command. Her third Filmfare award was deservedly for her spectacular performance as warrior queen in Rudramadevi (2015). For this film she learned sword fighting, horse riding and also had to ride an elephant. For her film Size Zero, she did not care about her figure and gained 20 kg to go into the skin of the character. Likewise for Baahubali –I she had put –up weight to play the mother character and for the queen Devasena, she reduced her weight. She charged Rs 5 crore for the film Rudramadevi and Baahubali -2 Her other hit films are Singam (2010), Singam II (2013), Yennai Arindhaal (2015), and Si3 (2017), Vaanam (2011), Deiva Thirumagal (2011) and Inji Iduppazhagi (2015).
