Ashwini Bhave created sensation in Marathi cinema After theatre, Ashwini Bhave made her debut in the world of acting through the science-fiction Hindi television show, Antariksh on Doordarshan. Later Ashwini Bhave created ripples in Marathi cinema in the late 80’s with her debut Marathi film Shabbas Sunbai (1989). Just as Hema Malini created sensation in Bollywood in the 70’s similarly Ashwini Bhave made box office tinkle with all her films doing roaring business. Films like Ashi Hi Banwa Banwi (1989), Kalat Nakalat (1989), Dhadakebaaz (1990), Ahuti (1994) etc. She worked with top Marathi legends like Nilu Phule, Ashok Saraf, Laxmikant Berde, Vikram Gokhale , Mohan Agashe, Ramesh Bhatkar, Sachin Khedekar, Nana Patekar, Sadashiv Amrapurkar etc. For the film Ahuti (1994) she won Maharashtra State Govt Award as Best Actress. Ashwini Bhave was introduced in Bollywood by Raj Kapoor Ashwini Bhave was discovered by Bollywood showman Raj Kapoor in his hit film Heena. She played heroine opposite Rishi Kapoor. The film was hit and opened doors for her in Hindi cinema. She worked with Bollywood doyen Yash Chopra’s Parampara, T-Series Monarch Gulshan Kumar Meera Ka Mohan (with Avinash Wadhawan), Sainik (With Akshay Kumar), Bandhan (With Salman Khan), Yugpurush (With Jackie Sharoof and Nana Patekar) etc. In a bid to archive success, Ashwini Bhave even did seductive scenes and wore glamorous attire in commercial films like Cheetah (With Mithun Chakraborty film), Honeymoon (With Rishi Kapoor), Ekka Raja Rani (with Govinda), etc. but failed. Few are aware that Ashwini Bhave also acted with Bollywood legend Om Puri and Irrfan Khan in the Hindi remake of her Marathi drama Purush. The Hindi version was also titled Purush but unlike the Marathi drama, which created multiple records, the Hindi film failed to attract film audience. Since none of her film was hit hence disappointed Ashwini Bhave quit Bollywood. This gave her confidence and when she heard the script of Kadachit from Chandrakant Kulkarni, famous Marathi drama and film director - writer, she decided to produce the film.
