Later she got an opportunity to do a similar VJ job called Page 3 at popular Zoom TV of the reputed Time Group. These TV shows helped Gauhar Khan in bagging some dance in Music Videos. The most popular being re-mix version of old hit song “Hawa Mein Udati Jaaye…" by Bombay Vikings. A flop debut in films opened doors in TV Reality Shows In 2003 Gauhar Khan got her first break on Big Screen with a small supporting role in Neha Dhupia starrer film Miss India - The Mystery. The film flopped miserably. But Gauhar Khan kept trying and in 2004, celebrated filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar exploited her dancing ability in his multi-starrer film Aan: Men at Work. The film had a galaxy of stars like Akshay Kumar, Jackie Shroff, Suniel Shetty, Shatrughan Sinha, Raveena Tandon, Lara Dutta, Irrfan Khan etc. Gauhar Khan had a titillating sexy item number Nasha Nasha Dum dum dum Nasha …..The movie failed but her item song won public applause. Hence she fetched another item number in the Telugu film Shankar Dada M.B.B.S. These item songs finally opened doors for her in TV Reality Shows. She got the chance to display her dancing skill in the widely popular celebrity dance reality show ‘Jhalak Dikhla Jaa 3’ where she stunned all judges and stood ‘First Runner Up’. After this she again hit national and international media headlines by winning the famed Salman Khan hosted TV Show Bigg Boss season VII. Her romance with Kushal Tandon on the show made her a household celebrity. Gauhar Khan made come-back in Bollywood In 2009 Gauhar Khan made her come-back in Bollywood but not as item-girl but as a supporting actress in somber role in Yash Raj Film’s Rocket Singh opposite Ranbir Kapoor. Recalling her come-back in films Gauhar Khan in an interview said, “Between 2002 and 2004, I tried doing films but after tasting failures in films, I had given up trying Bollywood.” She added, “During my modeling career many people criticized me as I do not have a face of heroine and I could never make it in Bollywood. Initially I was upset and irritated and compared myself with other girls what I lack to be a Bollywood actress but then I read books of poplar legends and realized my folly. I learnt that one must only focus on her/ his aspiration with dedication without bothering about success.” Gauhar Khan began focusing on her potential and one day film director Shimit Amin, who directed Rocket Singh, spotted her and signed her for the film. The film was a huge hit and Gauhar Khan was nominated for ‘Screen Awards ’10- Most Promising Newcomer Female’. Later her hit song Parda… in the hit film Once Upon a Time in Mumbai became a hit. Her other films include Game, Ishaqzaade, Kyaa Kool Hain Hum 3, Fever, Fuddu, Badrinath Ki Dulhania.
