y age she had started giving stage performances and became famous as a dancer and is said to have given many performances through her dancing career. During this period she had also appeared in a small role as a child artist while she was still studying. She did her schooling at Stanley Girls High School in Hyderabad in their Abids Branch.

Madhavi known of her work is an actress who has acted in Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, Hindi, Tamil , Kannada ,Oriya and Bengali cinema in the career that span across for 17 years only and the total sum of 100 films she has completed within that period. Madhavi did her debut in the films with K. Raghava and Dasari Narayana Rao’s Thoorpu Padamara a film in Telugu when she was still in her teens. Followed by this film it was a whirlwind of activities for her with new roles coming her way and not before long she had acted in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi , Oriya and Bengali with some of the top actors and directors. She enjoyed her profession as a film actress and has gained profound experience with each of her roles that varied from each film. It was one of the best period of her life time and she calls it the Golden period of her life. Though she acted in over 100 films her favourite filsm are Khaidi, Intlo Ramaiyya Veedhilo Krishnayya, Raja Parvai, Thambikki Enda Ooru, Ormaikkai, Oru Vadakkan Veera Gaada, Malaya Murtha, Haalu Jenu, Agnipath, Gireftaar and Akasadoothu. One of her most prominent role was in the Telugu film Maro Charithra in 1978 and she was casted once again in a repeat role in the Hindi remake film Ek Duuje Ke Liye in 1981 which was one of the highest grossing films of 1981 and in both films she has shown a remarkable sensitivity of a lonely woman who falls in love with Kamal Haasan’s character. She earned the Filmfare Award Nomination for the Best Supporting Actress. K. Balachander was so impressed with her role in this film that he introduced her to the Tamil industry and she got her next venture Thillu Mullu in 1981 opposite Rajinikanth . She established herself as one of the leading actress and landed herself with roles co-starring with Amitabh Bachchan in the Hindi film Agneepath in 1990. Madhavi has acted with Kamal Haasan in many films like Raja Paarvai, Tik Tik Tik , Kaaki Sattai and Mangamma Sabadham wherein she appears in a swim suit . She also played the role of Zeenat Aman from Insaaf Ka Tarazu for the Telugu remake called the Edi Dharmam Edi Nyayam in 1982 . Madhavi had done several remakes in Telugu and other regional languages which were remake of Hindi films. Such as Zeenat Aman’s role once again from the Hindi Hit film Don . she acted in the remake of the same film in Malayalam called the Shobaraj in 1986. Which went on to be a super hit film . During her career in the filmline she had the honor of working with some of the top stars and stalwarts of the Indian Cinema, from the great stars like Sivaji Ganeshan, Prem Nazir, Raj Kumar, NTR, and ANR, Dev Anand , Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan. Madhavi has also acted with film actors as Chiranjeevi, Rajinikanth, Vishnu Vardhan, Ambrish, Mammoty , Mohanlal, Sanjay Dutt and Jackie Shroff and was one of the most popular stars of her times. She learn a lot watching these actors and considers them as her teachers . Although Madhavi had gained reputation as a serious actress or she did roles that were the serious kind because of her sensitive performance in the Maro Charithra in 1979 and its Hindi remake ‘ Ek Duuje Ke Liye in 1982 , she was able to switch her role with ease without any hesitation of a fun and a sexy image donning a bikini soon after in the Tamil film Tik Tik tik and even sporting blonde look in her personal life in 2006. She is modern in her thinking and did her roles as to what it demanded in the script.
