Mithila comes from an orthodox Maharashtrian family and was brought up by her grandparents at Dadar.

Mithila Palkar has the typical next door girl look , cute , a happy go lucky kind who has a carefree approach in life.  This won her a place in the hearts and rules on the charts with her popularity in the acting industry.

Her hobbies are travelling and singing. Mithila has participated in inter-school science Drama festivals at the age of 12 . She had not taken acting seriously and finally in 2004 she took the plunge to join the theatre and take up acting as a full time career.

The 23 year old beautiful Mumbai born and raised girl is now a part of many projects especially the new digital web series.

She owes her success to the Indian Millenium audience to her work and the fact that she speaks their language.  Her character as Meera received lot of accolades and says it helped not just the women but also the young men to find courage to purse their dreams.

In her family she is the first to join the entertainment industry though it was not a new concept for her to pursue her passion.  Her sister who holds a Ph. D in Neuroscience, she says it took her a lot of effort to convince her family to accept her wish to join films. 

Her first stage performance was at the age of 12, and her grandfather’s wish was she could pursue her passion provided she completes her graduation before she took up any other vocation. Therefore, after she completed her graduation, majoring in advertising, Mithila joined the ‘Q; Theatre Productions and enjoyed working behind the scenes at their annual youth theatre festival which gave her a bigger exposure.  She had not done well for her first audition and had got herself the backstage job.

Mithila Palkar made her debut in the year 2014 in the short Marathi film, Majha Honeymoon as Rujuta which was showcased at the 16th Mumbai Film Festival.  

Mithila sang a song called Maharashtra Desha with the Bhartiya Digital Party (BhaDiPa) and was released on Maharashtra Day, May 1st in the year 2016

From then on Mithila Palkar’s further gave her career a kick-start with Filter Copy’s News Darshan.   Sketches on same channel followed soon.  She was seen with Imran Khan in the film Katti Batti , directed by Nikhil Advani .  She plays the role of Imran Khan’s sister in the film. Though the movie did not do well she was noticed by the ad world and did ad films like Maggi, Tata Tea and Zomato.

Dhruv Sehgal met Mithila at the Thespo annual festival and she asked for an audition and this time she did well and went on to do her first web series called “Girl in the City”.  She was roped in to play a typical Bombay girl, as Meera Sehgal on Bindaas and a few other videos and web series like Little Things 1 and 2 as (kavya Kulkarni on Netflix, Official Chukyagiri as Mili. She got a lot of popularity and became famous.

In 2017 Mithila made her debut in the Marathi film Muramba in 2017 costarring with Amey.

Wagh and her first leading role in a Hindi film was Karwaan as Tanya opposite Irfan Khan, Dulquer Salmaan and Kriti Kharbanda which released on the 3rd of August 2018.

With her film on Netflix, Little Things with Dhruv Sehgal, Mithila rose to her fame in March 2016 with her version on the cup song, inspired by Anna Kendrick’s ‘Cup Song’ from the film Pitch Perfect.,  Her cup song “Hichi Chal Turu Tur” went viral on Youtube and won her 4 million views.

Forbes India named her the young achiever for 30 under 30. The Girl in the city was her milestone.

Little Things got so popular that Netflix purchased the franchise of the same and its Season 2 was premiered in Netflix on October 5th 2018. 

Mithila made her debut in Marathi films, with the film Muramba with co-star Amey Wagh which went on to be a hit film as well.

 

Awards

The most promising ads of the year(web) award at the WBR Iconic Achiever’s Award function. She won the Marathi Filmfare award for the Best Debut Female actress.
