Rita Bhaduri has done an acting course at the FTII (Film & television Institute of India, Pune), where her batch mates were Zarina Wahab & Jaya Bhaduri.
Rita is born in a Hindu Bengali Brahmin family, has one brother & two sisters. Her mother was a famous Bengali actress and she forced Rita to join films.
Rita was unmarried but was in a relationship for a while with actor Navin Nischol. Her hobbies are Cooking & dancing, favorite stars being Priyanka Chopra, Divyanka Tripathi9Television), Vidya Balan, Heroes were Aamir Khan, Ranbir Kapoor& Arjun Rampal.
Rita’s debut was in 1960 was titled ‘Teri Talash Mein’ (1968) & debut on Television was ‘Zindagi’ (1987) Once she passed out from the Film & Television Institute she never had to struggle as supporting roles came her way very easily though she was a good actress, never got a chance to be in the lead roles. She has done films for Rajshri Productions ‘Sawan Ko Aane Do’ (1979), Julie (1975), which became a super hit being a bold film. Her role was significant in the film and her performance was considered as one of her best of a matured broadminded sister to the male lead Vikram.
Her landmark role was opposite Kamal Hassan in a Malayalam movie titled ‘Kanyakumari’. Rita has acted in Gujarati and regional films too. Her other films have been Virasat, Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa, Kya Kehna, Hero No 1 & so on.
Rita acted in a serial called ‘Grihalakshmi’ from 1995-1997. Rita was associated with the gujarati Film Industry though she was not from that origin. Totally she has acted in 71 films & 33 Television serials. Rita was often mistaken as Jaya Bhaduri’s sister. Some of her popular serials on television have been Khitchdi, Kumkum, Amanat, Ek Mahal Ho Sapno Ka, Hasratein & Sarabhai v/s Sarabhai. On Television Rita has done Mother and grandmother roles. She has acted opposite actors like Chandrachur Singh, Revathi & others. Her role in Nimki Mukhiya as Imarti Devi came very popular and was her last role before she died on the 17th of July 2018 at Vile Parle Sujay Hospital of a Cardiac Arrest.
Her most recent performance was in the Gujarati film in 2017, Tamburo and thereafter she continued to play the roles of grandmother in the serial Nimki Mukhiya.
Rita Bhaduri became a known name in the television and also worked in the film industry for over four decades and starred in some of the films with popular actors like Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Jackie Shroff, Govinda, Anil Kapoor, Madhuri Dixit, Shashi Kapoor, Vinod Khanna and many others in significant roles alongside.
She was awarded the Filmfare Award for the Best Supporting Actress in the film Raja which had the lead roles played by Sanjay Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit.
