the youngest in the family. Both her elder brother and sister loved her so much that all her naughtiness was forgiven. She was a pampered child but her family was deep rooted in ethics and moral values, hence she grew inculcating these good values. The values later played a key role in shaping her career, when she came to big cities like Delhi and Mumbai and had to stay alone. Her father was a retired CBI officer. After her graduation from Lady Sriram College in Delhi, she began preparing for IAS Indian Administrative Services and simultaneously for Mass Communication Entrance Exams. She sold clothing and accessory store at the famous showroom Khazana at Taj. She was paid Rs 900/- per month. From that she managed fees for her studies. Recalling about her first remuneration she said that when she first got the salary she bought an expensive sari for her mother and gifts for her caring elder brother and sister.

Sakshi Tanwar came into glamour world of TV by chance Sakshi Tanwar had no plans to enter TV industry. She had never participated in school dramas or at college. She had never dreamt of acting as she was planning to become an IAS officer but when she was still preparing for her IAS examination and side-by-side working at Taj Hotel, her friend called her to try luck as an anchor on TV. In those days Doordarshan was the only TV channel and was quite popular. Since Sakshi was studying Mass Communication hence she had a good command in speaking. Also she was attractive and beautiful. Thus she was the ideal choice for being an anchor . The TV show was Albela Sur Mela, a music-based show. It had two anchors - a lady and gents. On the day of the shooting the lady who was selected for the show did not turn up. The production unit was in tight corner. Suddenly Sakshi’s friend, who worked at Doordarshan called her and explained the grim situation, Sakshi understood and immediately rushed to help her friend. She first cleared the audition test and was immediately signed to do the show. Sakshi Tanwar was at the crossroad of life when she opted for acting After her brief stint at Doordarshan’s Musical Show Albela Sur Mela. Sakshi began focusing on her studies as acting was not in her wish list. So readers would wonder how she entered into TV world. Well, it so happened, that Sakshi Tanwar failed in both her examinations viz IAS and Mass Communication. Hence she took up Computer Software course. Thus she began swinging between TV serials and Computer course. She did TV to make money. She did many serials Dastoor (Her First TV serial) Ehsaas, X-Zone etc. After completing her Computer Software course Sakshi applied for job at many multi-national companies. One day she received a letter declaring that she had been selected in a reputed Corporate House. She was exited but ironically the same day when she was leaving to report on duty, she received a call from the TV producers Bobby Bedi to report on the sets of TV serial Rajdhani, which he was making for Star Plus. Sakshi Tanwar was at the crossroad of her career! She had to make a crucial decision between acting and her dream job in corporate house!! After a lot of thinking she says she could not decided but involuntarily her legs moved towards Film City where Bobby Bedi was shooting for the TV serial Rajdhani! Sakshi Tanwar had initially refused the role of Pravati in Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii Readers would be surprised to know that initially Sakshi had refused the central role of Ekta Kapoor’s popular serial Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii because she was shooting for Rajdhani in Delhi and Ekta’s serial was being shot in Mumbai! However Ekta Kapoor was so overwhelmed by Sakshi that she cajoled her and also arranged dates for Sakshi so that her TV serial Rajdhani was not affected. Recalling about the role Sakshi informed that she was actually doing the side role in Ekta Kapoor’s pilot serial Karam, when one day Ekta Kapoor noticed her and on the spot she made up her mind to cast her as Paravti in Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii. With Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii, Sakshi Tanwar became the ‘Ideal Bahu’ and became a household name in India. She won multiple TV awards from 2003 to 2010 for her superlative role as Parvati Agrawal. The serial made her a Star TV artist. Sakshi Tanwar became the highest paid actress on TV After the huge success of Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii, Sakshi became the highest paid actress and charges Rs 80,000 per episode. According to a report she is among the top 5 TV actress in India. Her famous TV serials include Devi, Balika Vadhu, Kahin Door, Crime Patrol and the most popular Bade Achhe Lagte Hain and Kutumb. In Anil Kapoor’s TV serial 24 (Season 2) she stunned her fans as ATS officer Sakshi Tanwar’s stint in Bollywood Sakshi Tanwar has had an utterly flop career in films. She began in 2006 with O Re Manva ( 2006) but the film was a huge flop. Two years later when she was working for Ekta Kapoor,  Ekta gave her break in her home production C Kkompany ( 2008). The movie helped her get few more films like Coffee House ( 2009) , Bawra Mann (2011) etc but all were failures. Even her Marathi film Katyar Kaljat Ghusali (2015) did not help her make a career in regional cinema. Finally with Aamir Khan’s Dangal she achieved her stardom in Bollywood.
