Shilpa’s career made a beginning with her debut at the age of 20 in the film Brashtachar (1989) directed by Ramesh Sippy along with Rekha and Mithun Chakraborty playing a role of a blind girl. Though her role as the blind girl went unnoticed in her debut film, she grabbed attention from the audience and her fans in her second film opposite Anil Kapoor in his dual role film Kishen Kanhaiya . She has a cameo delightful role in the film as his wife.

 She has acted in films like Paap Ki Kamayee opposite Mithun Chakraborty, Nyay anyay(as Anju Singh)Yodha with Mohanlal, Trinetra with Mithun Chakraborty,1990, Benaam Badshah with Anil Kapoor ,Do Matwal with Chunky Pandey,  Swarg Yahan Nark Yahan again with Mithun Chakraborty, Lakshman Rekha/Tilak release in 1991 Brahma, Apradh Prateeksha(as Renu Khanna) Dil HI To Hai/Pehchaan with Suneil Shetty and Saif Ali Khan,Jeevan Ki Shatranj  Mithun Chakraborty,1992, Aankhen with Govinda Khuda Gawah again with Govinda.  Parwane/Aakhri Chetawani, Juari, Gopi Kishan as Chanda in the year 1993.

Shilpa has done films opposite some of the top actors during that era and her maximum number of films were with Mithun Chakraborty. She has acted in nine films with Mithun Chakraborty.

Producer Sawan Kumar Tak wanted to sign her for his film Souten Ki Beti but somehow it did not materialize. He later had signed her for a four year contracts which she was not able to complete so he sued her noncompliance,  but because of his unprofessional attitude the case got cancelled.   Shilpa started taking offers from other projects.  Hum ( she did a role as Anita Pratap Sinha) was one of her big films with a big star cast like Amitabh Bachchan, Rajnikant and Govinda.

She took a 13-year gap from the Entertainment Industry to raise her family and made her return to Television and shifted home to Mumbai, but would travel to Delhi for her shoots for the Zee Tv’s show ‘Ek Muthi Aasmaan’(on the life of domestic help), second serial being ‘Silsila Pyar Ka’on STAR Plus(4th Jan, 2016),’Savitri Devi College & Hospital’(May 2017 to September 2018)on Colors Tv.

Shilpa is a full-time home maker now and feels her daughter needs her attention and visits India every year. Shilpa has acted in a few movies opposite Govinda and Anil Kapoor too. She has acted in a Marathi film too title ‘Sau. Shashi Deodhar’.




 

Shilpa is a model turned actress, after completing her film Gaja Gamini, she married Aparesh Ranjit who is a banker (Barclays Bank, London) on the 8th of July 2000.Namrata Shirodkar (Miss India, 1993). After she got married, she moved to New Zealand first and later to Netherlands and is now settled in London (UK).

Shilpa Shirodkar had made a name in Bollywood in the 90’s . She returned to the showbiz with the small screen after a sabbatical from the entertainment industry. She is now a successful Television actress.
