Shweta Tiwari hit limelight by winning the prestigious Bigg Boss Season 4 What Shweta Tiwari could not achieve from Bollywood, she achieved after winning the prestigious and celebrated TV Reality Show Bigg Boss season- 4 in 2011. She won the whopping prize money of Rs 1crore and became an International star overnight. The media around the globe carried the news on front page because Tiwari’s victory was no ordinary victory. It was an extraordinary victory because Shweta Tiwari became Bigg Boss’s First Lady Contestant to win the honor after three consecutive Male Contestants! Another striking factor of the victory was that Shweta Tiwari had outscored her close rival the Great Khali of WWF fame, who seemed to be more popular globally than Shweta Tiwari . She also defeated television stars like Ashmit Patel and Dolly Bindra and she took away the award by maintaining her cool temperament and dignified character in the Bigg Boss house for 14 weeks. More than the award, Shweta Tiwari confessed that the show made her bold and courageous lady and a matured person to face this ugly world.

Shweta Tiwari started working from the age of 12 years At an age when children study and have fun playing games and pranks, little Shweta worked at Travel agency and simultaneously studied at St. Isabel High School at Mazagaon in Mumbai. Due to financial crises in family Shweta Tiwari had to work. Her first salary was Rs 500/- She had to make telephone calls to a list of customers. To make a living she even had started giving Hindi Tuitions. At the age of tender age of 13, she stopped taking money from parents and was fending for herself. From her meager salary she managed to complete her studies and completed her graduation in Commerce from Mumbai's Burhani College of Arts and Commerce.

Shweta Tiwari faced a bitter married life with her first husband Shweta Tiwari met Raja Chaudhary in 1998 and fell in love. Shweta Tiwari was just 19 years and was a successful TV actress while Raja was 23 years and a struggling Bhojpuri film actor. Hence when Shweta revealed to her mother about her marriage plans to Raja, she cautioned her but Shweta was blindfolded in love. She ignored her mother’s warning and married him. In 2000 they had a daughter and then started the trauma of domestic violence and abuses as Raja was a flop actor in Bhojpuri films and would demand money from Shweta. The brawls reached a climax when Raja attempted to kill their only daughter hence Shweta decided to walk out of her marital home and seek divorce. However taking divorce was not easy it took 6-7 years and after 7 years in 2007, Shweta got relief from a life of hell. Shweta Tiwari found true love in Abhinav Kohli After a troublesome marriage with Raja Chaudhary, Shweta Tiwari came in contact with TV actor Abhinav Kohli during the making of the TV serial ‘Jaane Kya Baat Hui’ in 2009. Soon they developed affection for each other and in Abhinav  Shweta she found a gentleman, who was kind and understanding towards Shweta's daughter. The love for Abhinav blossomed more after Shweta Tiwari went to Big Boss season 4 and in her absence Abhinav took care of her mother and her daughter. Thus on July 13, 2013 both Shweta Tiwari and Abhinav Kohli tied the nuptial knot. The couple is blessed with a baby boy on November 27, 2016. Shweta is happy in her present marriage.

Ekta Kapoor spotted Shweta Tiwari in her Doordarshan TV serial Shweta Tiwari was first seen in a play ‘Khoobsurat Bahu' a satire on the pathetic plight of daughter –in- laws of the society. This play helped her seek her first TV soap opera Kaleerein (1999). Later she was seen in a popular serial Aane Wala Pal (2001) telecasted on Doordarshan’s Metro channel. Incidentally Ekta Kapoor happened to watch this serial and invited Shweta to do Balaji Telefilms’s TV serials Karam and Kaahin Kissi Roz. Impressed by Shweta’s excellent performance and her sincerity as an actress Ekta Kapoor offered her the lead role in most popular TV show Kasauti Zindagi Kay telecasted on Star Plus Channel. The serial became a bumper hit and flooded Shweta Tiwari with many awards. For six consecutive years from 2003 to 2008 she won Star Parivar award for her brilliant role. She also won ITA Best Actress Award in 2003. The serial made her the Queen of TV world! She played the lead role of Prerna in the serial. The serial was such a mega hit that it run for consecutive eight years and became the third longest running soap in India. Shweta Tiwari became a Star on TV After Kasauti Zindagi Kya, Shweta Tiwari became a Star on TV. She was regarded as the favorite daughter-in-law of Indian television after the success of Kasauti Zindagi Kya soap. She did many TV serials like TV shows Big Boss, Jhalak Dikhla Ja 6, Nach Baliye, Iss Jungle Se Mujhe Bachao, soaps Parvarish- Kuch Khatti Kuch Meethi, Kaahin Kissi Roz, Kya Hadsa Kya Haqeeqat. Her negative role as Mahabhasma Pari in serial Baal Veer on SAB TV also fetched her good response. Tiwari has also judged reality dance programmes – Aajaa Mahi Vay and the Bhojpuri show Dance Sangram. Shweta Tiwari and her tryst with Indian Cinema While Television bestowed flowers on Shweta Tiwari in contrast Films became a thorny path and despite stunning looks, talent and name in TV serials, Shweta Tiwari was not able to make a dint in Indian cinema. In Bolywood she did films like Madhoshi (2004) with John Abraham, Aabra Ka Daabra (2004) with Anupam Kher, Benny and Babloo (2010) with Kay Kay Menon, Bin Bulaye Baarati (2011) with Om Puri, Married 2 America (2012) opposite Jackie Shroff. After failing in Bollywood she did Bhojuri films like Hamar Sayian Hindustani, Kab Aibu Anganwa Hamar , Ae Bhouji Ke Sister. She also did regional cinema like Apni Boli Apna Des (Punjabi), Trinetra (Nepali). In fact she even did a Pakistani film Saltanat. To win fame she even attempted sexy item songs in films like Devru (Kannada) and Yedyanchi Jatra (Marathi) etc But nothing could give her success that TV provided.
