Tara Sharma was once the star rising of Bollywood. She had made major headlines by being part of mainstream biggie’s and off beat productions at the same time and was considered by many as the next best thing in Bollywood. She made a place for herself in the big league in a jiffy. Tara Sharma has been a part of critically acclaimed movies like Om Jai Jagadish, Bardaasht, Page 3, and also in commercial hits like Masti, Khosla Ka Ghosla and many more.

Tara Sharma was born to writer and theatre director Prathap Sharma in United Kingdom. She after completing her schooling from London School of Commerce and went on to graduate in B.Sc. Management at the London School of Economics later on. After completing her degree she worked as a financial consultant at Citibank and Accenture. However she appeared in Ad films for many popular brands like Lakme, Garnier and Pepsi and the latter proved to be her major turning point as she appeared along with ShahRukh Khan for the Pepsi ad which landed her the Bollywood acting career in the year 2002.

Tara Sharma is married to media entrepreneur Roopak Saluja. The couple has two sons; Elder son Zen Saluja and Younger Son Kai Saluja.

Film debut and rise to prominence ( 2002-2004) Tara Sharma was called upon by Anupam Kher to act among an ensemble cast in his directorial debut Om Jai Jagadish starring Anil Kapoor, Abhishek Bachchan, Fardeen Khan, Mahima Chaudary and any others. The movie which narrated the trials and tribulations of three brothers who wants differ things in life, saw Tara Sharma pairing opposite Abishek Bachchan. The critically acclaimed movie was the perfect platform for Sharma to launch her film career and she was seen coming up with a commendable feat pulling of the character in most parts. The next year in 2003 she was opposite John Abraham in Anurag Basu’s supernatural fantasy thriller flick Saaya. The story which dealt with a husband who fails to reconcile with his wife’s untimely death and who is later spooked by a seemingly paranormal presence had her doing the usual antics that Bollywood heroine ghost parts are seen to possess. However she tasted big time commercial success when she was roped in to play one among the lead ladies in Indra Kumar’s ensemble adult comedy film Masti along with Vivek Oberoi, Aftab Shibvdasani, Riteish Deshmukh, Lara Dutta and others in the lead. She was seen playing the overtly religious bossy wife of Aftab Shivdasani in the movie which garnered positive responses from the critics and the part proved to be a comic relief for Sharma at that point after back to back to serious offbeat productions. Array of back to back releases ( late 2004-2005) She then appeared in critically acclaimed moves like Bobby Deol’s Bardaasht and Sitam. Her next major release was Madhur Bhandarkar’s drama flick Page 3 along with Konkana Sen Sharma and Atul Kulkarni in the lead roles. The National Award winning movie saw her coming up with a strong spirited perfommance and is considered a career best part from her. The movie other than being a critical hit also collected well at the box office. Anant Mahadevan was next in line to cast her in a major supporting role in his Emraan Hashmi starrer thriller flick along with Udita Goswami playing the female lead. The movie kept her career prodpecs high at that time. Major career break and subsequent films ( 2006-2012) However Tara Sharma had a major revelation in the year 2006 when she was roped in by visionary filmmaker Dibakar Banerjee for his directorial debut Khosla Ka Ghosla which boast of a fat star-studded cast consisting of Anupam Kher, Boman Irani ,Parvin Dabas in the lead. She was seen coming up with a rave performance in the cult comedy flick. After a special appearance in Akshay Kumar’s Heyy Babyy, she went on to play a supporting role along with Jesse Metcalfe and Shriya Saran in the Indian American collaborative production The Other End of the Line. She then appeared along with an ensemble cast consisting of Paresh Rawal, Naseeruddin Shah, Om Puri, Neha Dhupia and many others in the crime thriller flick Maharathi in 2008. Tara was then selected by British filmmaker Bryan Forbs for his British drama film The Whisperers. She then appeared in the anthology film Mumbai Cutting in 2010. She was going through a lean phase at the time with being limited to supporting parts and unsuccessful outings. She carried on the bad phase with the Fardeen Khan starrer romcom Dulha Mil Gaya which also had Sushmita Sen in another lead role. She yet again appeared in a role which held little or no promise for an actress of her league. The movie too panned out to be a huge disaster critically and commercially. The same year in 2010 she was called upon by Ashok Kenny to play the female lead in the Arbaaz Khan starrer Prem Kaa Game which also had Salman Khan serving as the narrator. The movie which dealt with themes of infidelity too had demoralizing reactions. Tara was last seen in the movie 10mL Love in the year 2012.
