Tina Munim was the youngest of the ten siblings. Nine sisters and one brother. She lost her father when she was barely 13 years old . She and her siblings were brought up by the grandparents and her mother. They lived in Bhuleshwar.
Tina Munim Ambani was born into a large Gujarati Jain family in Mumbai. She has an elder sister Bhavna Munim who was also a model and a Costume Designer. Tina had aspired to be a model some day like her elder sister Bhavna Munim who was already into modeling career when Tina joined the film Industry.
Tina Munim did her schooling from Pupil’s Own School in Khar, Mumbai and completed her graduation from Jai Hind College Mumbai . Later attended a college in California in United States wherein she studied Interior Designing and Computer Science in Los Angeles.
She is the 2nd daughter-in-law of the founder of Reliance Industries Mr. Dhirubhai Ambani and Kokilaben Ambani.
Tina Munim represented the Miss Teenage Intercontinental Contest in Aruba in 1975 and was crowned the 2nd runner up and then went on to win two sub-awards including Miss Photogenic and Miss Bikini Award.
Between the years 1981 and 1987 Tina was in a live in relationship with Rajesh Khanna who was a superstar during that time. When the relationship ended she proceeded to United Sates to attend college there.. On her return she was romantically involved with Sanjay Dutt too for a brief period.
In 1992 she married the Industrialist Anil Ambani and quit the film industry permanently.
Anil and Tina Ambani met for the first time at a wedding and again met at Philadelphia. Tina had reportedly turned him down at the first instance but later accepted his proposal. It was never a love at first sight but they have set a perfect example of a couple in harmony.
Tina and Anil Ambani are blissfully and happily married for the last 18 to 20 years but the actress before she became Mrs. Ambani , she once had short affairs with Dev Anand, Rajesh Khanna and Sanjay Dutt.

After winning the beauty pageant she was offered her debut role in the 1978 film Des Pardes opposite Dev Anand which launched her as a film actress.
After the success of the film, Dev Anand went on to cast her in two more films with him in the lead role in the films Lootmaar and Man Pasand. Around the same time Sunil Dutt had launched his son Sanjay Dutt in the film Rocky and cast Tina Munim as his heroine.
Subsequently Tina Munim appeared in numerous films like Baton Baton Mein co-starring Amol Palekar which was a box office hit followed by her role in the film Karz with Rishi Kapoor which went on to be one of the most successful super hit films, a story on rebirth and the music that won the hearts of the millions. This further launched her to be a known face in the industry. She then appeared in a role opposite Dharmendra in Katilon Ke Kaatil followed by co-starring with Rajesh Khanna and Padmini Kolhapure for the film Souten .
Tina Munim appeared in a film with Amitabh Bachchan and Zeenat Aman and Randhir Kapoor for the film Pukar. Following which she had started dating Rajesh Khanna between 1981 and 1987 by which time he was divorced with his wife Dimple Kapadia.
Tina Munim had signed a couple of films with Rajesh Khanna in the 1980’s including Fiffty Fiffty, Bewafai, Suraag, Insaaf Main Karoonga, Adhikar, Rajput, Aakhir Kyon and Papi Pet Ka Sawal Hai.. They were linked romantically.
In 1985, Rajesh Khanna had turned into a producer and had cast Tina Munim in a leading role in the film Alag Alag which received a lot of praises for her performance and gave her a boost in the film industry that fetched her a role in the film Bhagwan Dada. Tina is said to have got a sparkle to her career after this film and her roles in these two films and Adhikar were some of her best performances.
In 1987, Tina Ambani gave up her career in Bollywood and moved to the United States of America while her two films were released in 1988 and 1991 respectively. She is the only actress who has acted with the three Kapoor brothers, Rishi Kapoor in Karz, Harjaee and Pukaar with Randhir Kapoor and Aasmaan with Rajeev Kapoor though she many more films with Rishi Kapoor during her tenure in the film industry.
The film Yeh Vaada Raha with Rishi Kapoor was a superhit film and she went on to do Aap Ke Deewane, Bade Dil Wale , and Deedar-E-Yaar followed by the success of the film Karz with Rishi Kapoor
Her last film was Jigarwala in 1991.
