Today we talk about the film Laawaris released in 1981 a totally masala film directed by Prakash Mehra. The film in which Amitabh Bachchan not only got his popularity for his acting but also for the song sung by him, ‘Mere Angene Mein Tumhara Kya Kaam Hai’. Starring in the film along with Amitabh Bachchan were Zeenat Aman and Amjad Khan. The story revolved around an orphan who goes in search for his biological parents. The film was considered a super hit film at the box office and was the fourth highest grossing film of Bollywood in the year 1981. It also earned nominations for Best Actor to Amitabh Bachchan and Best Supporting Actor to Suresh Oberoi.

A child born out of a wedlock and when the mother decides to raise her child alone, she dies in child birth. The little baby boy is given to a drunken driver to be killed but ends up falling in love with the child and he decides to raise the baby himself. He names the baby Heera which means diamond and this Heera is none other than Amitabh Bachchan. When he grows up the drunken Gangu Ganpat reveals that he is not the father which angers Amitabh Bachchan and he starts his search for his parents.
