This film directed by Dulal Guha besides starcast of Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha also had Prem Chopra and Utpal Dutt, Lalita Pawar, Pradeep Kumar and Mithun Chakraborty in supporting roles. The film was released on 26th November 1976. Until this film, Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha were strangers to each other as the name of the film rightly says too. But both clicked well and they had an absolutely great chemistry as a screen couple.
During the making of Do Anjane, Rekha was a bigger and much established star already but by then Deewaar had also released making Amitabh Bachchan the superstar with the Dewaar success. Rekha was always late to arrive on the sets which upset Amitabh Bachchan a lot as he was a man of discipline and principles, kept to his word and commitment. One such incident was when she arrived late on the sets he is said to have told her to come to the sets on time and take her work seriously. He said it in such a way that Rekha was very impressed with him. She liked his style of delivering his dialogues, his approach to any scene with ease that really made her admire him and soon they became good friends.
This film was remade in Telugu and Kannada. The writer of this film was Shafiq Ansari, Nabendu Ghosh and Ranjan Gupta. Kalyanji Anandji rendered music for this film.

A rich family adopts him as their son and once when he is watching a film he sees the famous heroine on the screen, is none other than his wife whom he has forgotten due to the memory loss. His memory regains after a few weeks and the flashback of their happy married life is shown and how the marriage breaks when his wife becomes over ambitious and walks out on him by falling prey to her director and manager essayed by Prem Chopra. He now wants to take revenge.
His wife is now a famous actress and he slowly regains his lost memory. He recalls how he is thrown off from a moving train by Ranjeet ( Essayed by Prem Chopra) . He seeks out to take revenge.
Prem Chopra’s role as the villain won him the Best Supporting Actor Award. After this film Amitabh and Rekha did several films together and their onscreen chemistry was much loved by the audience as one of the most charming romantic pair in Bollywood.
