Film actor director and producer Manoj Kumar was a brilliant actor as well and he made Patriotic films. He had become famous for his films that were related to the freedom and India’s struggle or sacrifices by the Indian Soldiers etc. His film Purab Aur Paschhim, Kranti were all based on patriotism which were super hit films.
But besides Patriotic films Manoj Kumar he also made films that were for a social cause with the intention of eradicating the nuisance such as Roti Kapada Aur Makaan, or the film shor, both of which did very well and were considered successful films.
But very few people know that Manoj Kumar besides being a brilliant actor who owned his own production house, he also rendered his own script to the directors which were welcomed as his script writing was as good as his acting. Together the film would end up with a beautiful story. But he never included his name in the film as the script writer and directed many films for other directors for which he never expected his name to be in the credits. There are many such films in which Manoj Kumar has given his direction and also written for the film.
To name a few films such as Aadmi, Patthar Ke Sanam, or Be-Imaan, Dus Numbri the list is long wherein he has directed the films or some part of it, but he has not mentioned his name as the director and taken credit for the film.
In one of his interviews, Manoj Kumar mentioned that he has given direction to many films and also write scripts for the films and he didn’t expect credit but one of the films that he really feels happy with his contribution was in Raj Kapoor’s classic film Mera Naam Joker.
Manoj Kumar informed that he would usually not expect his name to show up in the credits, but when Mera Naam Joker was released , the scene in which Rishi Kapoor falls in love with his teacher and the beautiful way the scene was enacted, audience were all praise for Raj Kapoor the producer director of the film but the showman with his honesty cleared the doubts of the media by telling them the truth, the particular love story between Rishi Kapoor and his teacher was directed by Manoj Kumar and not him. Not only that, the first part of the film was directed by Manoj Kumar and that he gave his maximum contribution towards the success of the film.
Raj Kapoor was humble enough to admit that he admires Manoj Kumar’s talent in directing a film and that he had no hesitation in telling everyone that the first scene between Simi Garewal and Rishi Kapoor was directed by Manoj Kumar.
