Lal Badshah is a 1999 Hindi crime drama movie directed and produced by K C Bokadia. In Lal Badshah, Amitabh Bachchan is again seen playing a double role. Apart from Amitabh, the movie features Manisha Koirala, Shilpa Shetty, Radhika, Nirupa Rai, Shakti Kapoor, Mukesh Rishi, Amrish Puri and Raghuvaran. Manisha Koirala signed this movie only because she got the opportunity to work with megastar Amitabh Bachchan.
Storyline Of Lal Badshah:
Talking about its storyline, Lal Badshah is the story of Lal Singh. Lal Singh gets separated from his real parents and lives with a woman whom he considers his mother. He later becomes a leader and helper of the poor people of his locality. This story is based in Mumbai. Lal Singh is fondly called Lal Badshah by people. Lal Singh finds himself in a clash with the underworld don Vikram Singh and he starts a fight against the injustice done at the hands of Vicky Singh. During this time he discovers that he is a lookalike of a prince who had hidden a treasure years ago. The plot revolves around the underworld don trying to steal the treasure of the prince.

Lal Badshah was the last movie of Nirupa Roy, who played the role of Amitabh Bachchan's mother in many movies from the 70s and 80s. This was the last movie of Amitabh Bachchan's career in which he acted as a ‘lead hero.’ After Lal Badshah, he started playing character roles. Lal Badshah was released during the declining phase of Bachchan's career and was a box office failure, however, due to the charisma of Bachchan who brilliantly played the role of a Bihari language hero, the movie became a hit in Eastern UP and Bihar.
