Abhishek Bachchan has been a key figure in contemporary Hindi cinema for the past five years, Wherein has tried his hand in almost all kinds of moulds from doing male leads in movies to being cast as a comedian in certain ventures and also has appeared in certain supporting roles in popular movies. Abhishek Bachchan has been able to pull of highly versatile characters right from his early days and has also subjected himself to movies of all kinds and genres further enhancing the actor in him. Despite of being born as the son of the great Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan has been able to carve a unique place for himself in Bollywood in the illustrious career.

Abhishek Bachchan was born as the second child to Legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan and yesteryear actress Jaya Bachchan in Mumbai. Bachchan suffered from dyslexic syndrome in his childhood at an early stage. He attended the famous for Star kids school Jamnabai Narsee and Bombay Scottish School and Modern School in Vasant Vihar, Delhi, completing which he graduated from Aiglon College, Switzerland and also joined for Business studies in US but dropped it midway to pursue a career in Bollywood. Bachchan having grown up among the film industry always from his early days were in awe of the art and also developed his taste for cinema after frequent visits to film locations with his father which led him to discontinue his studies from Boston University midway.

Abhishek Bachchan is married to famous actress and former Miss world Aishwarya Rai. The couple had tied the knot in the year 2007 after a long time relationship while working together in movies and the couple has a five year old daughter Aaradhya Bachchan.

Abhishek Bachchan made his debut in Bollywood in the war drama Refugee along with an ensemble star cast including Jackie Shroff and Sunil Shetty, and was paired opposite yet another debutant Kareena Kapoor in the year 2000. The movie panned out to be crucial from Bachchan’s perspective as it went on to garner him immense critical acclaim for his performance even though the movie could not gain any commercial success. But Abhishek Bachchan went on to surface back with a handful of unrecognized movies like Tera Jadoo Chal Gayaa , Bas Itna Sa Khwaab Hai, Shararat and many more which made his opening days in cinema a big struggle which could not get him commercial recognition even though he received words of praise from critics for his individual performances in films like Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon which also got him the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor in the year Eventual Turnaround of events(2004) The year 2004 was Abhishek Bachchan’s technical rise to stardom where he went on to play one of the lead in Mani Ratnam’s Yuva , a remake of the Tamil movie Ayitha Ezhuthu where he reprised the character played by R Madhavan in the original , the dark and flamboyant depiction of the character brought out a new Bachchan and even got him a Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor , and he followed up by playing the dashing cop in Sanjay Gadhvi’s action thriller Dhoom which went on to be a phenomenal hit and also garnered superb reviews for Bachchan’s eloquent and tough interpretation of the male lead along with John Abraham , which was Bachchan’s official ticket to the big league and his very first blockbuster as of then and first real taste of commercial success in Bollywood. Abhishek Bachchan continued his sparkling run in 2005 starting off by starring in the Shaad Ali’s comedy Bunty Aur Babli where he was paired opposite Rani Mukerji; the movie was Bachchan’s first individual hit and received exemplary reviews from all corners and marked his steady ascent up the ladder and the movie was the first on screen association of Bachchan with his father. Bachchan’s next major release was Sarkar, Ram Gopal Varma’s version of the cult classic The Godfather where Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan went on to play father son for the first time on the silver screen; the film was the second highest grosser of the year 2005 and also garnered tremendous responses from movie goers and critics alike , and Bachchan once again got a platform to dominate the proceedings in some parts although playing second fiddle to his father in the gangster thriller which got him yet another Filmfare Award in Supporting role. Abhishek Bachchan was also seen as one among the lead in the critically acclaimed Bengali movie Antarmahal the same year. Karan Johar was next in line to cast Abhishek in his family drama Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna in a supporting role , the Shah Rukh Khan Starrer which dealt with themes of infidelity and lost love again won Bachchan a third consecutive Supporting Actor Award for his controlled and matured performance, in the year 2006. Abhishek Bachchan paired with his wife to be Aiswarya Rai in J.P Dutta’s romantic drama Umrao Jaan which was one of the biggest washouts of the year. Abhishek Bachchan anyhow went on to end the year on a high note by reprising ACP. Jai Dixit from the from Dhoom in its sequel Dhoom 2 alongside Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai , which incidentally became Bollywood’s all time highest grossing film ever as of then and also secured garlands for all of its lead cast performances and elaborative action sequences. Career Best Performance in Guru (2007) Mani Ratnam cast Bachchan in Guru; the partial biopic of business tycoon Dhirubhai Ambani , where he was placed opposite Aishwarya Rai. Guru was the first Indian film to have a mainstream premiere in Canada and also in many other prestigious film festivals around the world. Guru had a great box office run over time and it fetched spectacular reviews from critics some even citing Bachchan’s performance as awe inspiringly refreshing change in the actor’s largely inconsistent career and also some were blown away by the pure elegance and dignity that the man brought on the screen from the very first shot. Guru is still today considered to be Abhishek Bachchan’s career best performance by many movie goers and critics. Bachchan’s Continuous good run ( 2008) The year 2008 saw Bachchan coming up with a stellar act in the super hit Sarkar Raj; a sequel of Sarkar along with his father after which he came up with the highly successful comedy Dostana along with John Abraham and Priyanka Chopra. Drona too saw Bachchan in the lead, where he played a superhero called Drona although the movie panned out to be unsuccessful. Bachchan took up film production for the very first time in R Balki’sPaa; which ironically saw him being cast as the father of Amitabh Bachchan, who played a 12 year old boy who is suffering from the rare genetic condition called Progeria in the movie which dealt with a unusual father son relationship dynamic. The film was a commercial and critical hit and also was a highly noted for Amitabh Bachchan’s magnificent performance. Gradual setbacks ( later 2009 -2011) Abhishek Bachchan lost his momentum in the coming years with highly unsuccessful movie’s like Delhi-6, Game with a breather in the Hindi version of Mani Ratnam’s multilingual fictional adaptation of Ramayana; where he appeared as the counterpart of villian Ravanaa from the epic opposite Vikram and Aishwarya Rai, although he delivered an highly appreciated performance the movie could not pan out to a possible game changer for him. Most Recent films (2012 – present) Abhishek Bachchan made a worthwhile comeback in the year 2012 with the Ajay Devgn starrer entertainer Bol Bachchan which went on to be welcome hit for the actor since Paa in 2009. Dhoom 3; the third instalment of the Dhoom franchise saw Abhishek retaining his character from the previous two films, where he was cast opposite Aamir Khan in 2013 and in Farah Khan’s ShahRukh khan starrer Happy New Year in 2014, which saw him in a supporting comic role and finally in 2016 in Akshay Kumar’s Housefull 3, all of which were highest grosser of the respective years where Bachchan was seen mostly in supporting roles to the main lead.
