He has played the Piano since the age of five and, wrote his first piece of music when he was just nine years old.

Adnan Sami was first married to the Pakistani Actress Zeba Bakhtiar(1993) and has a son named Azaan Sami Khan and was divorced after three years.

In 2001 he re-married Dubai based Sabah Galadari and the relationship ended within a year and a half which ended in divorce again.

On 29th of January 2010, he re-married Roya Sami Khan, daughter of a retired diplomat and army general.  and got a baby girl, whom he has named Medina Sami Khan.

On January 1st, 2016 The Indian Home Ministry approved his status as an Indian Citizen.

In 2005 Adnan suffered from lymphedema and he developed an infection in the knee that disrupted his career for a while.

Adnan is a singer, Musician, Composer, Pianist, Television Presenter and Actor. He is the fastest pianist who plays western and classical music through the Santoor. Adnan in his teens, had performed on the piano on the Stockholm program and he has been named the fastest keyboard player by the US keyboard Magazine.

Adnan Sami, during his vacations, started with his Indian classical music from the maestro Pandit Shivkumar Sharma.

 Asha Bhosle saw Adnan when he was about 10 years old,  at the R.D. Burman concert in London and encouraged him to continue his flair for Music and take it up as a career.

Adnan was approached at the age of sixteen to write an English song for the Famine-hit Ethiopia ‘Run for his life’ which was recorded for UNICEF in 1986 which went on to be on No 1 in the music charts in the Middle East, and three more followed, Talk to me, Hot Summer Day and You’re My Best Kept Secret.

In 1989, His first classical album on piano accompanied by the table maestro Zakir Hussain was formally launched.   His first solo album Raag Time was launched in 1991 and the Teri Yaad title track from this album went on to be a super hit in Pakistan.

His two songs from the album Kabhi to Nazar Milao with model Aditi Gowitrikar and his famous Lift Karaa De, starring the popular film actor Govinda. The videos were shot by Anil Mehta of the Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and Lagaan fame.

Magnasound and Adnan together released this album on remix.  

He soon had become a name to recon in the film industry and filmmakers Boney Kapoor invited him to provide music for his films. This was his beginning with a career in the films.  He not only composed but also sang for some of the top Hindi films produced by Yash Chopra and Subhash Ghai.

He has sung the song from Ajnabee that became popular .He then became the brand ambassador in India for Pepsi Foods that involved him to make live music concerts across the cities featuring in ads for Pepsi products. He is the only celebrity who has endorsed for the two competitive companies, Pepsi and Coco-cola together.

Adnan is considered as one of the most successful faces of the entertainment industry, non filmy music and film music as well.

In 2002, Adnan got opportunity to work with A. R. Rehman in Saathiya in the form of the Aye Udi Udi, which gave him the title of ‘Reigning King of Indipop’.

Besides his Bollywood connect with Asha Bhosle, his music videos have covered Bollywood stars that include Namrata Shirodkar for his Bheegi Bheegi Raat, Mahima Chaudhry, Rani Mukherjee and Raveena Tandon for Tera Chehra, Govinda, Fardeen Khan, Ameesha Patel for O Meri Jaan , Bhumika Chawla for Maahiya, Dia Mirza for Pal Do Pal and the most famous superstar Amitabh Bachchan for Kabhi Nahi.

Adnan has also recorded songs for few Tamil and Telugu versions whose music was composed by A. R. Rehman.  He has also sung for Kannada films .

Adnan Sami after returning from his sabbatical, he bounced back to the music circle and sang the sound track Dil Kya Kare from the film Salaam-e-Ishq and Noor-e-khuda in the film My Name is Khan.

Thereafter he has composed for music for many films like No Time for Love, Lucky, Yeh Raaste Hai Pyar Ke, Dhamaal, 1920, Chance Pe Dance, Mumbai Salsa, Khubsoorat, Sadiyaan, Shaurya to name a few.

Sami has performed his classical concerts and given solo performances for Royalty, the King of Sweden and King Hussein of Jordan, besides his performance before President Mitterrand of France, President of the United Arab Emirates, President and Prime Minister of India, Pakistan, Kzakhstan, Krygystan.  Adnan in the span had covered over 40 countries.

In 2003, he wrote the song for the Cricket World Cup which became a super hit video as it captures the nationalistic spirit of the cricket world and the competition which had guest appearance of Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Fardeen Khan and Kareena Kapoor.

His music has always been closely associated with prominent Indian film personalities and celebrities from the music industry.

Adnan Sami who performed and represented India in the Global Audience via satellite for BBC World Services that celebrated the 70 year so broadcast.

In 2003, Sami became the first musical artist from entire Asian regions at the Wembley Stadium and came into the Limca Book of World Record for having sold out all . He did this again in the following years 2005, 2008 and in 2012.

Adnan received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Prime Minister of Pakistan at the ceremony held by the Pakistan Television.

He was also awarded the Glory of India Award by Government of India at the 350th Anniversary of the completion of the Taj Mahal . Sami gave here his solo concert which gave him the title of Sultan of Music.

His most popular recent numbers were the qawwali from Bajrang Bhaijaan , called the Bhar Do Jholi Meri which went on to become a superhit and a blockbuster film. This was his first time attempt with Qawwali.

He hosted the Indian version of the American Music game show called the Bol Baby Bol on Star TV Network and has judged shows like, Super Singer,  Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, L’ll Champs which are are popular worldwide.

First vocal solo album Raag time was released in 1991, Teri Yaad became a super hit in Pakistan. In 1994 he composed music for the first time.

Asha Bhosle sang for his first Pakistani Film  ‘Sargam ’where he was the lead actor and was a box office hit.     In 2000, Sami and Asha Bhosle came together to make a beautiful collection of songs called’ Kabhi To Nazar Milao” in India. Lift Kara Do was a very famous music video with Govinda. It made such a success that Magnasound and Adnan released an album named Always Yours.The Business Week magazine says the album sold about 4 million copies in India alone.

As a Bollywood film actor he has acted only in two films, Sargam in 1995 and Afghan in 2018.

His Badaltey Mausam was released in 1994 and re-released in India as Kabhi To Nazar Milao in the year 2000.
