Kamal Sidhu is the only VJ who had a stint of 7 years in the 90’s Even before popular VJ like Cyrus Broacha created sensation on MTV, Kamal Sidhu ruled TV as none other VJ in the 90’s. She served as VJ for 7 long years when a VJ had a career of maximum 1-2 years in the early 90s. Later she shifted to National Geographical Channel and did some serious stuff on environment and wild life conservation. She is the pioneer of extreme shows sports, adventure and environment on TV. She did a hugely successful show called Planet X on AXN, which later Akshay Kumar copied and did Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi etc. She owns a TV company and is engaged doing shows.
Kamal Sidhu wanted to make sports her career Kamal Sidhu was born in a Sikh family but few know that her parents had converted to Christianity before she was born. Hence she follows the principals of Christianity. Her parents were broadminded and gave her a lot of freedom. She had in-born talent for sports and was very good athlete. She won many prizes at school sports events in racing and other athletics events. She was obsessed with sports and wanted to make a career in sports but destiny had other plans. Her sporting dream saw a new height when she was selected to represent Canada in Heptathlon event at the Summer Olympics. She was on sky nine and began training for the Olympics but alas before the prestigious event she was injured and was ruled out from participating. In an interview she revealed that when she was playing her last basketball match in her final year in High School, a six feet tall and healthy girl from her opponent team collapsed upon her. The pressure of her massive body damaged her knee and she had a major injury that terminated her sporting career dream.
Kamal Sidhu married restaurateur Nico Goghavala, who owns a restaurant in South Mumbai posh locality.
Kamal Sidhu’s father was against her joining Miss India-Canada pageant Kamal Sidhu comes from an educated family. He taught her a passage from Rabindranath Tagore’s plays called Chitra and she excelled in the talent round and eventually won the competition. When she came to India, her life took a huge leap in glamour world. She was flooded with modeling offers and succeeded in turning heads in glamour world in India. In the early '90s, Kamal Sidhu ruled Indian glamour world as a svelte model. Her advertisements became a rage; be it an olive skin, washboard abs, ruffled locks etc. were instant hit. With her firang appearance and a lethal sexy body she was soon selected by MTV Asia and Channel V as the red hot VJ. Kamal Sidhu became instant hit among the teens and the youth of India. The youth went bananas at her Canadian accent, her stylish dress, hair and of course her gorgeous looks! She soon became a name to reckon in Indian TV. She worked with channel AXN. Interestingly Deepika Padukone was her first guest on the show. Kamal Sidhu made a hot and sexy Jodi with Jackie Shroff Bored by doing VJ on TV, Kamal Sidhu made her debut in Bollywood with Ketan Mehta’s film Aar Ya Paar (1997) opposite Bollywod hunk Jackie Shroff. Her chemistry with Jackie Shroff was hot and sexy. Her introduction scene in bikini was the highlight of the film but despite all the masala the film was a huge flop because Kamal Sidhu had a hot figure but she lacked acting skills. She did another film Little Zizou (2008) but it failed miserably and she quit film industry. During the same time she had signed The Fakir of Venice' but it got delayed.
