Connection between Kareena Kapoor and Leo Tolstoy’s book Anna Karenina Those who have read world’s renowned author Leo Tolstoy’s book Anna Karenina will bet that it is one of the best novels penned by Leo Tolstoy, who later became immortal with his other book War and Peace. So what’s the connection between Kareena Kapoor and Tolstoy’s book Anna Karenina? Well, when Kareena Kapoor was in the womb of her mother Babita (Famous Bollywood actress), she was reading the mentioned book. In the book the lead character Princess Anna Arkadyevna Karenina was so impressive that Babita had decided, within her heart, that if she delivers a baby girl, she will name her Karenina. Since the name sounded alien, hence it was modified to Kareena! From hating education to studying computer at Harvard University in the United States Like the Kapoor Khandaan, Kareena Kapoor did not like going to school but she went to school only on her mother’s insistence. However she found education interesting. She did her primary education from Mumbai’s famous Jamnabai Narsee School and later due to tussle between her parents she studied at the Boarding Welham Girls' School in Dehradun. Back in Mumbai she did her Commerce from Mithibai College but after class XII. She lost interest and developed interest in computer and she did a three-month summer course in Microcomputers and Information and Technology at Harvard University in the United States. Back from US she pursued Law from the esteemed Government Law College, Mumbai but again, this interest was short lived and finally she plunged into family business viz. acting and took training under Kishore Namit Kapoor, Ex-Teacher at the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) at his private acting institute in Mumbai. Kareena Kapoor joined films after being inspired by her sister Karisma Kapoor In an interview Kareena Kapoor confided that since she was a kid there was a filmy atmosphere in her house. “For me joining films was inevitable because from my great grandfather (Prithviraj Kapoor), to my grandfather (Raj Kapoor) to my parents (Randhir Kapoor and Babita), and my sister Lolo (nickname of Karisma Kapoor) everybody was a film star. Further when I saw my sister Lolo (Karisma) joining films and doing well i.e. She won name, fame and awards, I was inspired and decided to join films,” informed Kareena Kapoor.
The reason behind the fall out between Kareena Kapoor and her first love Shahid Kapoor Kareena Kapoor and Shaid Kapoor came close during the making of Fida and developed a passion for each other. This relation became stronger as they did many films together like Kya Love Story Hai (2007), Chup Chup Ke (2006) - 36 China Town (2006) and Jab We Met. They did not hide the relation form public and were seen together at parties and cinema halls. But during the making of Jab we met (2007) this relation soured and the two separated cordially. Many reasons behind their separation were pointed out like some believed Kareena parted with Shahid as all her films with Shahid were flops except Jab we met. Further with Jab we met becoming a hit, Kareena was flooded with offers, while Shahid could not get much with success of Jab we met, all fame was seized by Kareena Kapoor. Some said since Kareena Kapoor started coming close to Saif Ali Khan, this made Shahid upset and misunderstandings spoilt relationship. While some argue that Kareena Kapoor abandoned Shahid Kapoor as his career was sinking and she did not want to sink along with him! Whatever be the reason, today, both are married and living a happy life. Kareena Kapoor’s dream of marrying a ‘Prince’ Charming came true Kareena Kapoor always dreamt of a fairy-tale kind of romance with a ‘Prince’ Charming’ coming on chariot and marrying her. In an interview she said, “I am thankful to Almighty because what I dreamt turned true as Saif is a Prince.” Informing about her relationship to Saif Ali Khan, she said, “Though we had worked together in L O C Kargil and Omkara but there was nothing serious. But while working during Tashan in Ladakh, we really came close and seriously decided to live together.” “I was attracted to Saif because he was attractive and most important he brought back smile on my face that I had lost due to break up with Shahid Kapoor. On the other hand Saif was looking to settle down after being frustrated with multiple relations. Thus we came together and decided to tie the knot.” On 16 October 2012, Kapoor married actor Saif Ali Khan, in Mumbai in simple and quite ceremony. But the two gave royal reception at Mumbai’s the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel and the Lutyens Bungalow Zone in Delhi. Though Kareena Kapoor added the tag “Khan’ in her name but she has determined to stick to Hinduism. Saif Ali Khan has not objected. Pointless controversy over Kareena Kapoor’s new born son Initially Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan had planned to name their child Saifeena in trend with joining two names to create new name Like Rani Mukjerjee and Aditya Chopra named their daughter Adira, and actor Shahid Kapoor and wife Mira named their daughters Misha. Kareena Kapoor Khan delivered a baby boy in the morning on December 20, 2016 at Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital. After lot of pondering they named their son, Taimur Ali Khan Pataudi. But no sooner the name became public the couple was back lashed by society. The society mistook his name as Timur Lang, the 14 Century Turco-Mongol conqueror, who had ruthlessly plundered the subcontinent and the couple was taken aback by people’s outcry. Alarmed about the future of his son, Saif has confessed that he might change his son’s name though both his wife and his elder daughter have asked him to stick to the same name. However Saif feels that when his son will go to school, perhaps his co-students will bully him over his name. Hence in a fit of rage he even drafted a letter to change his name but after a cool thinking he tore the letter! Saif Ali Khan in an interview clarified the controversy, he said, “I have named my son Taimur. It is an ancient Persian word that means – Iron. Our purpose of naming him was that he will be as strong as Iron.” “And mind you my son has begun showing his rage. He doesn’t cry but yells!” he quipped.
