Neetu Singh was born in Delhi in a Punjabi Sikh Family. Her parents and she lived in Shanti Building , Peddar Road in Mumbai . Neetu Singh attended the Hill Grange High School on Peddar Road.

-       Touch who had a career span between the year 1966 to 1971 as a child artist and from 1973 to 1983 as an adult in the mainstream Bollywood. She started acting a the age of 8 under the name of Baby Sonia. Her first role as a child artist was for the film Suraj in 1966 in which she plays Roopa followed by her film Dus Lakh and then her dual role in the film Do Kaliyaan which gained her popularity as a child artist for her commendable role as twin sisters. Following which she acted in two more films as a child artist which were Waris and Pavitra Paapi.

-       Neetu Singh  made her debut as a leading actress in Bollywood with her first film Rickshawala in 1973 and went on to appear in more than 50 films thereafter as the lead actress between the years 1973 to 1983. In her debut film as a child artist in the film Suraj in 1966 she has acted along with the famous pair Rajendra Kumar and Vyjayanthimala as the lead pair. She was spotted by Vyjayanthimala in her dance school and she suggested to Prakash Rato the director of the film to give Neetu a small role in the film. She has acted in the film Ghar Ghar Ki Kahani in which she has played the role of Kutty Padminit in the film Kuzhandaiyum Deivamum.. the remake in Hindi which was Do Kaliyaan.

-       The Director MGR suggested to his friend K. Shankar to take Neetu Singh 

-           In the lead role for his film Rickshawala which again was a remake and in her debut role in this film she has acted with Randhir Kapoor who years later became her brother in law , married to his younger brother. This film paved the way for Neetu Singh at the age of 15 to be the lead heroine . However the film was a flop and she continued to do smaller roles.

-       Yaadon Ki Baraat   -  She got her next break in the multi-star film Yaadon Ki Baraat in 1973 which was a super hit film and her dance number with Ajit Tariq on the stage show in the film became popular on the song number Lekar Hum ….. She was noticed and received a lot of applaud for her dancing and bubbly appearance in the short role as the fun loving cheerful lively girlfriend. Thereafter she acted with some of the top stars of her time. She paired with Randhir Kapoor once again in the film Heeralal Pannalal in 1978 , Bhala Manus, Kasme Vaade, Dhongee  , Jaan-e-Jaan .She also paired with her husband’s uncle Shashi Kapoor in the film Deewar in 1975. Followed by her films in Ek Aur Ek Gyarah and the film Kala Pani in 1980. She has acted opposite the then Super Star Rajesh Khanna in the action comedy film Maha Chor, and a suspense film Chakravyuha in 1978 , followed by her stint in a Punjabi film Sawa Lakh Se Ek Ladaun. Neetu Singh formed a success pair with her husband and her boyfriend then Ranbir Kapoor and both together acted in 12 films which were mostly hit films and the pair was a favourite Bollywood pair .

-       Neetu Singh Did the Movies Khel Khel Mein and Rafoo Chakkar in 1975. Kabhi Kabhi a multi star film in 1976, Amar Akbar Anthony in 1977 and both were super hit films which did extremely well at the Box Office. The other films they did together were Zehreela Insaan in 1974, Zinda Dil in 1975, Doosra Aadmi in 1977 and Anjane Mein in 1978, Jhoota Kahin ka in 1979 and Dharam Veer too in 1977. Followed by many more good films like The Burning Train, Priyatama , Chorni , Parvarish , Maha Badmash, Yuvraaj, Raaj Mahal between 1977 and 1980. She was also paired with Shatrughan Sinha and Vinod Khanna . She was just 20 when she had already done so many roles and was one of the most promising actress of her time and that was also the time she was courting Rishi Kapoor and in 1980 she was at the top of her career and was nominated for many Awards but she retired from the film industry to marry Rishi Kapoor She made a come back to films after 26 years appearing opposite her husband in the film together Love Aaj Kal in 2009, Do Dooni Chaar in 2010 and Jab Tak Hai Jaan in 2012 and Besharam in 2013. Neetu Singh and Rishi Kapoor together were awarded the Best Life Time Jodi Award at the 2011 Zee Cine Awards ceremony .
