Rakhi is born a Hindu but follows Christianity, was a victim of child abuse, faced gender biased taboos. When she was ten years old, she has worked as a caterer for Tina Ambani’s wedding. Her parents were totally against her entering the entertainment industry, so she rebelled and went to producers showing her talents and started getting offers after a lot of rejections. To look better she got cosmetic surgery done.

Rakhi took part in a show on Tv called Nach Baliye where she and her boyfriend Abhishek Awasthi were the runners up and a show called Rakhi Ka Swayamvar where she chose Elesh Parujanwala (contestant from Canada) as her life partner and within six months broke of the engagement. Rakhi had met a reality television personality Deepak Kalal and was dating him and the couple were to marry but the marriage was called off for some personal reasons.

Rakhi did her debut film ‘Agnichakr’in the name of Ruhi Sawant, did small roles in films like ‘Joru Ka Ghulam’, Jis Desh Mein Ganga Rehta Hai’, Yeh Raaste Hai Pyaar Ke’, Masti, Main Hoon Na etc. She had auditioned four to five times and then got selected to do an item number in Chura Liya Hai Tumne and did Himesh Reshamiya” s Mohabbat Hai Mirchi’.

Rakhi is a model, dancer, Hindi film & Tv actor, Talk Show Host and a politician, has acted in Hindi, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Odia and Marathi films and has established herself as a sex symbol. Rakhi was one of the first contestants of the reality show Big Boss season in 2006. In November 2018, during a wrestling entertainment promotion Rakhi got involved in a dance battle with the American Female Wrestler Rebel who caught hold of her and turned her around and threw her and had a bad back injury and had to be hospitalized.

In 2005 she appeared in a music video “Pardesia” from the D J hot Remix album volume number 3. In 2012 she did a comedy act with Shah Rukh Khan and Ranbir Kapoor at the 57th Filmfare Awards and in an entry performance in 2015 with Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor a Malaysia.

Rakhi has done a leading role in a thriller Ek Kahani Julie Ki and was seen in a cameo in Bhaag Bakool Bhaag a comedy television series.

In 2008 she appointed a senior journalist and a publicist Flynn Remedios to handle her media and branding needs. Rakhi is a regular performer on stage too and has got Ranveer Singh’s tattoo done as she loves him

Rakhi will be once again seen in an item number song number in a Bhojpuri film soon. She has filed a case against singer Mika Singh and actress Tanushree Dutta.

 Her last film was in 2017 Godfather in which she has danced on an item number.

Her forthcoming films are Ab Hoga Insaaf to be released in May 2019, She has one more film release Gahraee in July 2019 and Mungilal Rocks in March 2020.
