Tiger Shroff outshines superstar Akshay Kumar with his film Baaghi! Immersed by the mega success of Heropanti, filmmaker Sajid Nadiadwala repeated the golden Jodi of Tiger Shroff and film director Sabbir Khan in their second film Baaghi (2016). Incidentally the movie proved a bigger hit than their earlier hit Heropanti. In fact Baaghi’s first day collection was ahead of superstar Akshay Kumar’s film Airlift. While Airlift opened to a modest Rs 12.35 crore, in contrast Tiger Shroff’s Baaghi opening day collection was a massive Rs 17.69 Crore! What’s more Tiger Shroff outclassed his own record. While his debut film collected Rs 50 crore plus; his second film Baaghi achieved the magical figure of Rs 100 crore and Tiger Shroff won the rare prestigious of joining the exclusive Rs 100 crore club dominated by superstars like ShahRukh Khan, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Hrithik Roshan and others!

The mystery behind the name –Tiger? Actually when Tiger Shroff was born he was named Jai Hemant Shroff but as an infant he was very vicious and used to bite, scratch and growl at people. Hence his parents nicknamed him as Tiger. When he made his entry into films with Heropanti, both the film’s director Sabbir Khan and film producer Sajid Nadiadwala insisted his father, famous actor Jackie Shroff to retain the nick name and not the original Jai Hemant, as it looked orthodox and outdated. Interestingly Tiger Shroff’s passport too declares the same name as he has now become a well-known star world around. Tiger Shroff’s first career option was Football Since Tiger’s parents kept him away from the glory of Bollywood, hence the actor was away from the limelight of films and stardom. He focused on studies, sports, martial arts, gymnastics and dance. He was a fitness freak. He was very good at football and was the star football player of his school viz. American School of Bombay. But alas, after schooling he found that there was too much corruption in sports and less opportunity for true talent to flourish. Hence, upset, he decided to pursue acting in films. Michael Jackson and Bruce Lee became his inspiration for film When Tiger was just four year old - two Hollywood stars had a deep impact on his young mind. He says, “The first person who influenced me most was Michael Jackson. His unique dancing style made me fanatical and without my knowledge my feet would start moving but being shy, I would hide myself and dance at my heart’s content in isolation.” He added, “As I grew I began adding my creative inputs into his style and slowly I developed my own style which was highly appreciated.” After Michel Jackson, the next celebrity that empowered young Tiger was Bruce Lee, the martial arts iconic star of Hollywood. Tiger says, “When I was four or five years I watched Bruce Lee’s film ‘Enter the Dragon’ and was left awestruck by Bruce Lee’s mastery in martial arts. I was so overwhelmed that I started learning martial arts.” Few know that Tiger is a master of martial arts and holds a fifth degree black belt in Taekwondo.

A disciplined and introvert since school days Tiger Shroff in an interview confided, “I have been a shy, disciplined and an introvert. Despite being a son of superstar I never threw tantrums, neither at home or at school. Though I was an average student at studies but still I was a favorite of my teachers for my disciplin and good behavior.” He has no vices like drugs, smoking or drinking. He is early riser. He sleeps before 10 pm and gets up at 4 am. Tiger Shroff practices martial arts- tae Kwan Do and Wushu. He works out all seven days of the week; focusing on different body parts. He is a pure non-vegetarian, eats eggs and chicken regularly and his diet includes plenty of proteins from grains and lentils

Tiger Shroff rejected many offers before signing Heropanti Tiger Shroff, knew he was not good at academics and he did not aspire to be a doctor or a lawyer. He knew acting in films was his eventual goal. He said, “On some holidays, dad would take me for shooting. I remember visiting on the sets of Rangeela, Ram Lakhan etc. I would not understand much but would feel proud at the royal treatment that was meted out to my dad on sets. This would inspire me to become a star.” He added, “After completing my class XII, everybody would ask me when I was being launched. There were many offers like a lead role in the remake of ShahRukh Khan’s previous television serial Fauji. There were also proposal from Subhash Ghai, planning a remake of dad’s hit film Hero and Aamir Khan planning to launch me but nothing materialized. Eventually I officially signed on June 2012 for Sajid Nadiadwala’s home production, Heropanti, particularly because it was action based film and gave me ample opportunity display my martial arts. Tiger Shroff underwent 3 years rigorous training prior Heropanti Before the shooting of Heropanti commenced film director Sabbir Khan, invested a lot of time in preparing Tiger Shroff to face the camera. He first gave him lessons in acting and was simultaneously given a rigorous training in action scenes under the coach, Ziley Mawai, who is a national level gymnast from Haryana. He gave Tiger intense training and taught him many tricks of martial arts like back layout, front pike, 360 degree-backward twist, wall flips and leaps. Heropanti turned a gold mine at box office Film producer Sajid Nadiadwala, who had dared to launch an actor, first time, in his two decade career was anxious and keeping his figures crossed. However when the film released on 23 May 2014, it was declared an instant hit on day one as it grossed a whopping Rs 21 crore!!! The movie later went to collect more than Rs 50 Crore thus making Tiger Sharoff, Bollywood’s first debutant actor, after Hrithik Roshan, who created a box office sensation with his debut film Kaho Na Pyar Hai in the year 2000. Tiger dedicated the film’s success to his parents. The movie not just won box office success to Tiger but also fetched Tiger Shroff, the prestigious Screen Best Debutant Actor award, thus stamping his excellence in acting department too. Tiger Shroff gets his dream role to play a ‘Super Hero’ in A Flying Jatt Since childhood when he developed the craze for watching films, (he used to watch one film each night) he had been aspiring to play a superhero. His dream was fulfilled with the film, A Flying Jatt (2016). Directed by Remo D'Souza and produced by Ekta Kapoor, the highlight of the film A Flying Jatt was that for the first Tiger Shroff was seen clashing with WWA World Heavyweight Championship and celebrated World’s Strongest Man, Nathan Jones! The movie was packed with martial arts and dance, an area where Mr. Shroff Jr excels. However despite all masala the film failed to click.
