Very few people have the privilege of being born on the same day as their parent Twinkle Khanna was one of the first child born on her father’s 32nd birthday to Jatin Khanna , Alias Rajesh Khanna the first superstar of Bollywood and her mother is an established actress Dimple Kapadia . The parents had separated when she was young . Twinkle Khanna has a sister Rinke Khanna who is also an actress who was in the films for a very short time and is married to an Industrialist Sameer Saran . Her Aunt Simple Kapadia was a Bollywood actress and a costume designer who died young due to cancer a few years ago. She met Akshay Kumar for the first time during a photo session for Filmfare Magazine and married him on 17th January 2001. They have a son Aarav and a daughter Nitara. After her marriage Twinkle quit acting and subsequently gave birth to their son Aarav on 15th September 2002. After leaving the film line and the profession she ventured into Interior Designing and is the co-owner of ‘The White Window’ a chain of Interior designing stores which she operates in Mumbai. She does not have a professional degree but has learned the skills by working with an architect for two years.

Twinkle Khanna made her screen debut opposite to Bobby Deol in Raj Kumar Santoshi’s film Barsaat in 1994. She was cast by Dharmendra before the film’s release he had signed two more projects. Barsaat performed well at the Box office and became the sixth highest grossing film of the year. The following year he played lead roles in Raj Kanwar’s action film Jaan and Lawrence D’Souza’s romantic film Dil Tera Diwana opposite Ajay Devgn and Saif Ali Khan respectively. The media wrote that Twinkle Khanna did not look like a typical Hindi Actress. In 1997 she featured in a few more films starting with Uff! Yeh Mohabbat, tihaas which were both released but did poor as a Box officer performers. Her next release was in 1998 , Jab Pyar Kisise Hota Hai which featured her with Salman Khan. Twinkle Khanna did one film ‘ Seenu ' in Telugu opposite to Venkatesh. She has done fims with Salman Khan, Govinda , Shahrukh Khan, Aamir Khan amongst others. Twinkle Khanna acted opposite to her husband Akshay Kumar in the film, International Khiladi and Zulmi both released in 1999. In the former she played a news reporter who falls in love with the criminal whom she interviews. Both performed poor at the Box Office. Twinkle Khanna played the lead role in Baadshah in 1999 featuring Shahrukh Khan as a detective. In the same year she acted opposite to Saif Ali Khan in Yeh Hai Mumbai Meri Jaan , a romantic comedy directed by Mahesh Bhatt. She was paired opposite Aamir Khan in Dharmesh Darshan’s film Mela in 2000 which was an average grosser at the box office. In 2000 she also featured in as a special appearance for the film Chal Mere Bhai beside a leading role in the comedy Joru ka Ghulam opposite to Govinda . She has further acted in David Dhawan ’s directed comedy film Jodi No. 1 in 2001. Her acting in the film met poor reviews. Film Director Karan Johar admitted in an interview that Twinkle Khanna was in his mind for the role of Tina in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai but she had refused the offer and the role was played by Rani Mukerji. Since she had left the industry after marriage to Akshay Kumar in 2001 citing that she did not enjoy acting as a professional career any more . Her last film was Love Ke Liye Kuchh Bhi Karega in 2001. Remake of Telugu film Money (1993 ) It featured her with Fardeen Khan and once again was an average grosser at the Box office.
