Chandrika, played by Juhi Chawla, is a successful documentary filmmaker. She is in search of a good subject for her next documentary. That is when she stumbles upon three jail inmates that have interesting stories that she wants to explore and show on screen. The three inmates include Ishaan, played by Naseeruddin Shah, who is a burglar. He is arrested for a murder that he committed when a burglary went wrong. The second inmate is Jaggu, played by Jackie Shroff, who was a lawyer and poet till he got arrested. His wife was having an affair with another man, in anger he kills his wife. The third inmate is Nagya, a temperamental guy, who is areested for accidentally killing his wife while having a verbal fight with her.
Chandrika explores the dept of each of these inmate’s characters and speaks to them on a one to one basis. She finds that there is a good person behind each of these criminals. Being in a troubled marriage herself, Chandrika finds new hope after talking to the three men and understanding their point of view on life. The movie is directed by Nagesh Kukunoor and produced by Metalight Productions. The music is composed by Salim-Sulaiman.
