Rohan Khanna, played by Akshaye Khanna, completes his studies in India but is unable to find a lucrative and decent job, thus decides to go to the US to try his luck for a promising career. Once Rohan lands in New York he begins his job search but is disappointed at the lack of good opportunities. He then meets three older men Chaurasia, Iqbal and Sader, who help him and make him feel at home. They even let him rent out their apartment and stay with them. Rohan quickly learns that many youth staying in America are struggling and doesn’t want to be another. Soon he meets a rich Indian girl called Loveleen, who is an American citizen and woos her to get the green card.
Meanwhile he meets another middle class girl called Pooja, played by Aishwarya Rai and becomes friends with her. She however falls in love with him. When he is rejected by Loveleen, he comes back to Pooja who accepts him with open arms. She then helps him get a job. Her brother however wants her to get married to an older man so she runs away from home. Soon Rohan and Pooja realize they are meant to be together and leave for India.
The movie is directed by Rishi Kapoor and produced by Rajiv Kapoor, Randhir Kapoor and Rishi Kapoor. The star cast includes Navin Nischol, Suman Ranganathan, Kader Khan, Paresh Rawal, Satish Kaushik, Jaspal Bhatti,Vivek Vaswani, Alok Nath, Aditya Hitkari, Himani Shivpuri, Moushumi Chatterjee and Sulabha Arya.
