Bahadur Singh is an honest Army officer and has to return to his duty the day his wife has given birth to their son Vijay. While away on duty, Bahadur Singh’s village is rampaged by bandits and his own sister is molested and killed. Bahadur is devastated to hear this news and comes to file a police complaint. The cops however offer no help and mock him instead. Left with no choice, Bahadur Singh in frustration becomes an outlaw himself and joins a gang of dacoits and calls himself Sher Singh to hide his identity. The police chasing him one day shoot him. He is then treated by a kind doctor called Raghuveer, but Sher Singh misunderstands him for being a cop and kills him but later repents. His son then grows up to fall in love with Aarti, the daughter of one of the dacoits.
Meanwhile Raghuveer’s son Suraj too becomes a police inspector and is now hell bent on taking revenge for his father’s murder. The film is directed by Shibu Mitra and produced by Pahlaj Nihalani. The music is composed by Bappi Lahiri. The star cast includes Dharmendra, Shatrughan Sinha, Chunky Pandey, Moushumi Chatterjee, Neelam, Tej Sapru,Mac Mohan, Om Shivpuri, Shakti Kapoor, Danny Denzongpa, Vinod Mehra, Gulshan Grover and Richa Sharma.
