Set up in the village of Awadh, the hard working sugarcane
planters are heavily exploited by the mill owners and landlords
for their greedy motives and profits. A young man who has
newly acquired a law degree from Lucknow puts some sense
into the planters and tells them that if they stop selling their
produce to these mill owners and set up their own mill they
will improve their condition. The mill owner’s son however
urge the workers to not stop selling their produce to them but
instead set up a planters union.
The poor and unsuspecting farmers agree with the landlord’s
son at first but soon realize that being self-sufficient is the way
to improve their plight. Thus they set up their own mill. The
young man who was behind their liberation soon falls in love
with a local village belle and marries her. The film is directed
by Muzaffar Ali and produced by Manoj Kumar. The music is
composed by Ustad G M Khan. The star cast includes Suresh
Oberoi, Deepa, Bharat Bhushan and Saeed Jaffery.
