Ram Avtar is a hard working and honest barber. He is a widower who lives with his sister-in-law and she takes care of him and his kids. Ram personally grooms a powerful politician named Digvijay Singh and the latter is fond of him as well. One day Digvijay’s party asks him to recommend someone who can contest the next elections. Without a second thought, the politician chooses Ram Avtar and he soon grabs the chance. In a surprising twist not only does Ram Avtar win the election, he also becomes quite popular among the masses. Overnight Ram’s fate changes and he becomes rich. The film is directed by Dasari Narayan Rao and produced by T Kranthikumar. The music is composed by Bappi Lahiri. The star cast includes Rajesh Khanna, Devan Verma, Shabana Azmi, Madan Puri, Om Shivpuri and Satyen Kappu.
