Adalat is action drama film released in 1977 directed by Narendra Bedi starring Amitabh Bachchan in Dual role as Thakur Dharam Chand ‘Dharma’ and Raju. Starring in the lead role opposite him are also Waheeda Rehman and Neetu Singh who play his love interests.
DharamChand or Dharma (Amitabh Bachchan) a very simple friendly village farmer is thrilled when his wife Radha (Waheeda Rehman) gives birth to a song whom they name Raju. Dharma once saves the lives of Ajit (Anwar Hussain, Sujit( Sujith Kumar) and Suresh who are being attached by a tiger. In return Ajit offers Dharma a job in Bombay and asks him to move to the metro city with his family and he accepts the offer as the village undergoes a severe drought. Dharma is made the Manager of Ajit’s warehouse.
An honest but brave village bred farmer, Dharma is tricked into signing documents that prove him to be the owner of the warehouse and is soon arrested after the raids conducted in which they find the trafficking of gold and drugs. He is convicted and jailed. During his conviction, his family suffers a lot. His sister commits suicide. When Dharma walks a free man after completing his sentence he seeks to take revenge and avenge the death of his sister as well as for wrongly framing him to be a convict. The film ends with Dharma taking his revenge on this enemy and the wrong doers of the society.
