Aghathiyaa: Angel vs Devil is a fantasy adventure horror thriller film written and directed by Pa. Vijay, and produced by Ishari K. Ganesh and Aneesh Arjun Dev under Vels Film International. Starring Jiiva, Raashii Khanna, Arjun Sarja, Yogi Babu, and Kingsly, the film weaves supernatural horror with historical fantasy, producing an engaging story over two timelines.
The film is about Aghathiyaa (Jiiva), an art director, who finds himself stranded after his financier pulls out of a film venture. In order to make back his losses, he turns the elaborate set into a haunted theme house. The situation turns dark when his girlfriend, “Veena” (Raashii Khanna), unwittingly plays an antique piano, which sets off a chain of spooky supernatural occurrences.
As eerie visions and ghostly whispers engulf the mansion, Aghathiyaa discovers its sinister past in Pre-Independence India. Through vintage film reels and audio messages, he discovers that the mansion was owned by Siddharthan (Arjun Sarja), a genius Siddha medicine man in 1940s Pondicherry under French occupation.
Siddharthan is called to heal Matylda, the paralyzed sister of Edwin Duplex, a cruel colonial magistrate feared for his brutality. Despite Duplex not believing in Siddharthan, the healer makes everyone's expectations turn around within a day and gets Matylda moving once again. However, this miracle becomes a contest of faith and power, where Duplex recognizes Siddharthan as a thorn in the flesh of his authority.
Today, Aghathiyaa knows that Siddharthan's information could be the key to curing his mother's cancer, drawing him further into the mystery of the mansion. But as he searches further, he stirs a distant war between good and evil: a psychic battle between the demon spirit of Duplex and the virtuous Siddharthan.
With his own destiny entangled in the past, Aghathiyaa needs to unmask the mansion's secrets before it is too late.
