Rajesh Pandit lives a middle class lifestyle and lives with his widowed father and yet to be married sister. However, he is a brilliant student and also in love with his college class mate named Kaajal, who aspires to be a journalist. Everything seems to be going good for Rajesh, even then he isn’t happy, especially with the college atmosphere where students of scheduled caste and tribes are not given enough opportunities like the rest of the students. He then decides to contest in the college student president. To Rajesh’s surprise he wins.
Rajesh then chalks out his future wherein he decides to give the IPS Exam and then become a police officer. Everything goes well as expected as Rajesh scores high in the exam as well as does very well in the interview. However at the very nth hour the position is given to a man from the backward class. Dejected and upset Rajesh has no choice but to try another way to get into the IPS posting. To make matters worse his sister’s wedding is also pending for which he has to arrange for dowry. He then changes his name to Rajesh Paswan.
