Rohit is from a middle class family and is an aspiring musician. Kiran who comes from a wealthy family also aspires to be a musician some day. She meets Rohit and both fall in love learning music. Her parents are however against the relationship as he is from a middle class background. But the lovers go against all and get married. Kiran moves into Rohit’s house and their love spreads all across the neighborhood. Soon they begin to learn music together but Kiran gets too caught up with the household chores that life takes a difficult turn for her. Soon she gets pregnant and gives birth to a boy. Kiran is increasingly frustrated at being bogged down by the house and child while Rohit doesn’t seem to support her musical aspirations. One day at a party they meet a music director and Rohit gives his music compositions to get a chance to sing them for the director. Kiran asks to give her recorded tapes too but Rohit refuses. This is the final blow to Kiran who decides to leave Rohit and her son behind and walk out of the house.

 

Rohit is shocked at her decision and begs her to stay but she is relentless. Soon she begins singing for commercials and gets a break as an actress when a movie director notices her. Kiran becomes a huge star and Rohit and his son go to watch her in the movie theatre. When they finally meet, Kiran and Rohit realize that they still love each other and reconcile their differences. The movie is directed by Mansoor Khan and produced by Ratan Jain. The music is composed by Anu Malik and the lyrics are written by Majrooh Sultanpur. The screenplay and dialogues are written by Nasir Hussain. The star cast includes Aamir Khan, Manisha Koirala, Master Adil, Deven Verma, Paresh Rawal, Rakesh Roshan, Shafi Inamdar, Satish Shah, Mushtaq Khan, Razak Khan, Dinesh Hingoo, Navneet Nishan, Anjjan Shrivastav, Rohini Hattangadi and Tanvi Azmi.
