Prabin and Shanta fall in love and get married. They have two children and live a blissful life until one day tragedy strikes. Prabin is murdered and it is said that he was killed by one of his relatives. At the same time his brother Nabin goes missing. Police now put two and two together and figure that he is the murderer of his brother. Meanwhile Shanta and her father-inlaw leave the city for a better future but struggle everyday. Soon Shanta’s childhood friend Suraj advices her to start making pickles and selling them to make more money.
Soon her children grow up and get married. Shanta’s old father in law unfortunately passes away and Suraj too dies. Shanta now leaves home disturbed but is found by her grandson. Soon everyone realizes their mistake but it is too late and Shanta passes away. Her daughter then gives birth to a daughter and all feel that Shanta who is called Amma lovingly is re-born. The film is directed by Jiten and produced by B B Katra and Jten G H. The music is composed by Rajkamal. The star cast includes Ashok Kumar, Mithun Chakraborty, Raakhee, Neeta Mehta, Suresh Oberoi, Vijay Arora, Tom Alter, Shahsikala, Malika Sarabhai and Dolly Jena.
