The plot of the movie is developed through Ajayan's (Ashokan) first-person criticism about himself. Later, he uses the same background to tell another story about his life. Both of these storylines come together in the end. Ajayan was an orphan at birth. He was raised by a physician. Ajayan is a bright child who develops into an awkward adolescent. After marrying Balu (Mammootty), his foster brother, the stunning Suma (Shobhana) visits their home. Ajayan develops a sexual attraction to his sister-in-law at first sight. As a result of the internal tension this causes, he eventually leaves the house. In the second tale, Ajayan describes his uncertain youth and the lovely girl named Nalini who comes into his life. Ajayan frequently switches between the real world and his imagination.
